Rau, Meyer, Gabreski pilots of the first three (two P51D and a P47D)?  Last three aircraft furthest from the camera appear to be two P47D's and a different aircraft I can't make out.

I'm guessing the last one is a T-6.

I thought the same after looking at it longer. Squadron hack makes sense.
The next two look like long nose P-47s compared to the 47 in the foreground.  They just look odd.

I can't tell on the last one as its blocked from view by the fighter preceding it but the other two are P-47's in my estimation.

I was trying to find some documentation on what the training squadrons flew in England, but didn't have any luck... and because no freeloading:

Most squadrons had at least one T-6 for courier work and this type of thing. CO's plane may have been in maintenance or was needed for a max effort mission that day. Maybe it's just camera angle but the noses of the other two P-47s look different than the one in the front. Different models perhaps?

MC - 20th FG - Col Harold Rau
PE - 352nd FG - Col James Mayden
LM - 56th FG - Col David Schilling (note the rocket pod under the wing.) The only 8th group that didn't transition to P-51s.
CL - 55th FG - Col George Crowell (the aircraft is assigned to LtCol John Mcginn)
PI - 356th FG - Col Phillip Tukey (This group switched to P-51s in Nov 44, so this dates the photo prior to that.)
The next P-47 is 353rd FG. The group commander, LtCol Glenn Duncan, was shot down in July 44 so this is, most likely, his replacement. This group transitioned to P-51s in Oct 44
The P-47 in the back row is 78th FG, Col Frederic Gray. This group transitioned to P-51s in Dec 44.
The P-38 could be 479th FG. Col Hub Zemke took command in Aug 44 and the group transition to P-51s in Sept 44. Robin Olds was also in the group.

Its an optical illusion. The underside of the PI plane is painted a light color. In the BW photo, this color blends in with the ground, making the upper part of the plane look longer and narrower than it actually is.

My uncle Lewis @ 1942, he had joined the RCAF before the US entered. After flight school in Canada he was sent to England and flew Beaufighters over Germany as a Sergeant pilot.
After Pearl Harbor he and all the other Americans were transferred to the USAAF. He finally ended up flying B-24s.
On August 1 1943 his last mission was the raid on the oil fields in Rumania, Operation Tidal Wave. You can make out the British wings on his right chest, he’s buried in the Florence American Cemetery in Florence, Italy.

LtCol Elwyn Righetti, CO of 55th FG, with his P51D "Katydid". LtCol Righetti's P-51 was hit by flak while strafing an airfield near Riesa, Germany on April 17th, 1945. It was the groups 2nd to last mission of the war and his 30th birthday. He crash-landed his plane and was heard to say on the radio. "I'm fine. I think I may have broken my nose but otherwise, I'm okay. Let the family know I'm okay. It's been swell working with you gang. I'll see you in a couple weeks when this is all over.". He was never heard from again and no trace of him has been found. He was credited with 7.5 aerial kills, 2 probables and 27 ground kills. he was the leading 8th AF "ground" ace of the war.

There's another T-6 in the back row to make 10. That leave 5 FGs not in the photo.

An image search reveals a diorama of the battle, evidently the diorama was created during World War II, so pictures of it are pretty common.

Gorman also stated that "the 5 shot 1903A4 bolt sniper rifle - with a 4 power scope was a waste" Foley swapped it for an M1 Garand and took the helmet camo off.

On the 18th of May the 143rd Regiment sailed from the port of Pozzuoli near Naples and closed in at the Anzio beach head on the following day. On the morning of May 23d, the Regiment jumped off in an attack to break out of the beach head and entered the line on the road to Rome near the town of Velletri.

The Division, in a daring maneuver, sent the 142d Infantry and the 143 Infantry from the left flank squarely across the Division front under cover of darkness and the two regiments infiltrated to the rear of Velletri, up a 2,000-foot peak before the Germans realized what had happened. With the capture of the hills in rear of Velletri, the town folded and the race to Rome was on. Charging through the Alban Hills, the regiment arrived in the outskirts of Rome about 4 p.m. on the afternoon of June 4th, 1944.
