As a conscript, one of the company's tasks was to service once monthly,  those buried tanks - called "long-lasting point of reference" . Few Panzers and T34s :)

Great colorization's, can anybody tell me if that is a cheap thing to do, or what is the cost associated?

some of them are done in photoshop or another program. it merely takes time really. depending on the photo hours or days sometimes if its very elaborate.  their might be a filter that speeds it up though been awhile since I messed with it.   done well they can be very convincing.  you can also color sample from color video stills or  real photos and then use that to color in the black and white ones.

there are free programs, some that are not that much , and others that are expensive. I think adobe charges a monthly fee now for their latest offerings. not sure if contract related or not.

colorising video is a whole another ballgame.

U.S. Marine Raiders gathered in front of a Japanese dugout on Cape Totkina on Bougainville, Solomon Islands, which they helped to take. Photographed January 1944.

Wonder how many made it home.

Quite a mix of weapons for 1944: 03’s, Garands, .30 carbines.

That captured FW190 spent some time in the small airport just over a mile from my house as did a few others.   There are still rumors around about some other captured aircraft being buried, after Freeman Field it was shut down and most of the aircraft moved to Wright field.  Every few years someone comes out to do some digs to look for them.   We still have a nice small museum with a lot of photos and parts, but nothing like WPAF.

Here is another FW190 on the ground at Freeman field.

I own a few pieces of those planes.

Two are believed to be from this plane:

As the story goes this was the last personal mount of Joseph Priller. The Dora crashed in September of 45 during a demonstration. The official report read that the pilot entered an aerobatic maneuver at too low an altitude. However, from the various reports I’ve read, (and personal knowledge) I believe the electric elevator trim failed and caused the crash. This was fairly common and happened to a couple other 190’s in “captivity.” (Now getting into personal speculation:) These aircraft were the last of the breed and were rushed into production by less than skilled labor who built them. Stuff broke, other stuff was sabotaged. You should see the rivet “patterns” on some of these planes. My god. Combined that with (American) pilots untrained in their use, their emergency procedures, and ground crew also not trained in their operation lead to a number of (possibly) preventable accidents and losses. Arrogance...as in, we got this, we won the war...blah blah. Okay, speculation hat off.

You know your history quite well!  Rumor here was he was showing off and miscalculated how much altitude he needed to complete the maneuver.  I guess that is close to the official story  too.  Farmers still till up pieces from time to time.

Here’s a picture of one of the pieces I own. It’s part of the leading edge of the wing. Specifically where outboard MG-151 or Mk-108 was omitted from the A-8 wing to the D-9 wing.

What is this thing on a T-26?

Here's another oddity.  You can see it' a T-34 underneath:

No problem, the T-26 was obsolete 1940 and they used the tanks as tractors for many purposes.

Snow plows, ammo transporters, fuel transporters, ...

I am aware of all that. I can see fuel leaking out onto the engine deck. Seems legit safe.

Not really a WWII pic, but it’s of a man that flew 97 missions over The Hump, the map is of the CBI with headings and radio check points.
Before anyone says something about his flag not being displayed properly, I need to get a wire hanger mounted on back and then hang it. Dad passed away 2 years ago and mom had just given me the flag last week.
