Jerry Miculek isn’t actually human, so you need to reset your bar

Dryfire reloads will make you as good as you'll get. Miculak dryfires like it's 'literally' his job.
You're also examining your hits on target in the video instead of focusing on what you're actually doing. Don't drop the gun so dramatically. Then just the usuals of trigger prep and firing as soon as you're back on target. |

Dunno. Assuming that’s OP in the video, you’re already about 10 seconds faster than me. I would hope that if I was actually firing in war, I’d not worry about my thumb and just jam it and go. But it’s just a range toy for me. So I take my time and care.

On the M1 you need to do a lot of work to it to speed up reloads. Lighter recoil spring, smaller gas port, advance timing, polishing parts, chromed clips and beveling the receiver. Careful though, too much work and you will get early clip ejection.
Once you get the rifle tuned, practice loading without removing from your shoulder. Count your rounds and don’t wait to hear the ping to start the reload. Use clip pouches that face the top out from your body. Cup the clip when you grab it rather than pinch the sides. Once you get the equipment tuned and technique improved you should get down to almost 1.5 second reloads. |

Clips are for men back when we meant Fuck You when we shot at you.

Nice for preventing Garand thumb but also somewhat weird. No matter how far you stuff the clip in the bolt won’t fly forward without a shove. I mean magazine? |

OP, be careful using that Garand for self defense.
If you are ever subject to a cartel hit, or ATF raid, and GD teaches both are common, when the bad guys hear the “ping” they will rush you. You’ll end up dead for sure. |

Quoted: Dont let it. Ive run Garands for 3gun and tac rifle a LOT and never squished a thumb. It is extremely hard to garand your thumb when loading ammo. That is mostly a "messing around with and empty rifle" thing. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I'd like to know as well since I plan on taking my Garand to multigun matches. Fear of getting my thumb squished really slows me down. Dont let it. Ive run Garands for 3gun and tac rifle a LOT and never squished a thumb. It is extremely hard to garand your thumb when loading ammo. That is mostly a "messing around with and empty rifle" thing. This a lot of times you need to help the bolt start going forward with a nudge or bump. |

Quoted: The proper way to load a Garand is to use the heal of your right hand on the op lever to hold the bolt back while your thumb is in the action. View Quote It is unnecessary to block the op rod when loading a clip. I demonstrate this in my M1 class. The bolt can’t come forward as long as you are pushing down on the clip. As you release pressure, there is no room for your thumb in front of the bolt because it strips a round off on rifles with smooth clips and strong springs. A large portion of rifles can’t strip the round because you hang it up when inserting the clip. That is when the forward bump is needed. There is a risk of catching a thumb with single loading. When single loading you have to pull the op rod back to release it and should be in control of it as you use your finger to depress the follower. Those that get their thumb caught are usually playing with an unloaded rifle or trying to clean the rifle. If you fail to fully lock the op rod back, it will release like a mouse trap if you touch the follower. The op rod should always be pulled fully to the rear with substantial intent force to ensure it properly catches. |

Same with babnana clips I’m not making this up… My mother in law was getting on my case 2 weeks ago about “nobody needing assault rifles” and asking if I would even “support common sense gun control like banning assault rifles” And I’m like “well what do you mean by assault rifle, so we’re all on the same page…” And she cuts me off “oh that’s just a BS taking point you know what I mean.” Meanwhile, my statutorily literal assault rifle sitting in the corner that my mother in law thinks is just an assault weapon… and there was literally a babnana clip stuffed full of 75gr T2 in it Attached File |
