David Soul, who won cult status for his role in 1970s TV series Starsky & Hutch before topping the charts with his hit 'Don't Give Up On Us', has died at the age of 80.

His heartbroken wife Helen Snell said the British-American star had passed away surrounded by his family following a 'valiant battle for life'.

you may want to include his name in the title, because there will be dupes.

RIP David

I hated that show. Especially Starsky.

And that lame Torino.

Bummer. I loved that show as a kid, and my sister and I would watch his variety show specials every year.

My father worked undercover on a drug task force back in the 70’s. He was blonde. His partner had dark curly hair, so their coworkers called them Starsky and Hutch. He hated it, so I called him Hutch every chance I got. It’d piss him off.

Later, in the 80’s, he was still chasing drug dealers but lived on the beach and drove a sports car (280ZX), so I called him Crockett.

No.

That show was the death knell for good cop shows until the genre was revived with shows like NYPD Blue with Dennis Franz after about a 15 year gap of crap.

With the exception of Miami Vice of course.

I remember the pipes. Even as a little kid I was thinking it was sketchy to sit in those things.

Was the uniformed cop who shot Clint's gun in Animal House?

Perhaps Tim Matheson playing Eric Stratton?

I disagree
It was only two years between the end of Starsky and Hutch and the beginning of Hill Street Blues.

"The show received critical acclaim, and its production innovations influenced many subsequent dramatic television series produced in the United States and Canada. In its debut season, the series won eight Emmy Awards, a debut season record later surpassed only by The West Wing. The show won a total of 26 Emmy Awards (out of 98 Emmy Award nominations) during its run, including four consecutive wins for Outstanding Drama Series."
