Simple really. Our parents/grandparents were concerned with getting ahead and making things better for their family. Dad was busting his ass for 50 or 60 hours a week in that corporate job, mom went to work to make ends meet. They bought that nice house in burbs, two cars. On their time off they took us and our sisters to our dance recitals and baseball practice and our dogs to the groomer. Life was great. We went off to college and followed in their footsteps.

The people that were "fighting for gay rights" (and the people politically benefiting from it) needed something else to do.

IMO, lots of people want to think they are "good people". One of the easiest ways to be a "good person" is to fight against (or at least be opposed - vocally) something "evil". Oppression of gays seems to have been resolved once gay marriage became pretty much "law of the land"... the people who were "fighting" didn't want to beat their swords into plowshares and live in peace.

They wanted more "blood"... so they found another victim group to "fight" for. There are other branches of this, of course. Not just transsexuals. BLM, CRT, all that kind of stuff.

People like this will always find something to be angry about, some bogeyman to "fight" against.

In reality, they're not doing much more than tilting at windmills.
