Wife found this in our yard today. There was a shooting and police standoff for like 7 hours last week, and we heard on the MRAP speakers they were going in with gas. Saw the guys mask up and heard what pop smoke actually sounds like, so that’s cool.
Figured I would turn to the experts here. What the hell is this thing? Wife also found a smashed “night vision/gun flashlight battery” that’s just a worse brand of CR 123 than is currently in my holster ;-)  Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Part of the fuze igniter assembly.
Screws in the top. Pull pin while holding spoon. Either drop or throw and the spoon releases and the spring loaded part strikes and ignites the fuze which ignites the smoke. Something similar to this.  Or it may have been the type that the whole smoke canister burns away or maybe a flash bang. |

The military smoke grenades were all metal cans that stayed attached and intact after use (unless they’ve changed), so I’m guessing flash bang or something.
Years back a really nice house close to me go raided early in the morning. I saw a large truck blocking my drive and went out ready to cuss someone out. It was the swat truck and I got out just as they were knocking the door in and tossing flash bangs. They weren’t that loud outside of the house. Maybe what you were hearing. |

Bouchon or fuze, not to be confused with fuse.
Easy to reactivate, per the interwebz & YT. The lack of a jungle clip notch in the lower outer part where the spoon sits means it’s either a smoke, flash bang or Thermate M201A1 vs the M213 fuze. Or, so I’ve read…. |
