Most folks who want "compromise" want everyone else to "compromise" to their position. There really isn't any compromise, they just use that word so they don't sound as much like they are demanding.
A true compromise would mean you give them something they want, and they give you something you want. Having everything go one way is not compromise. For example, if national background checks are demanded, then perhaps in exchange give national right to carry without a permit required and waive any waiting periods for purchase. Anyone who has passed a national background check would then automatically qualify for a national carry permit, and be able to purchase any firearm without a waiting period. Or, if one side demands firearms qualification, they would make select fire weapons available to anyone who has passed the qualification WITHOUT a transfer tax or other additional background check. |

"She" may not even be a she. She may not even be a Lefty. She may not even really give a shit about RKBA one way or the other. If I wanted or needed to piss off a bunch of us here, to get a social media account boosted, and it didn't matter if you liked or hated the "me" that account purported to be, doing it negatively is a LOT easier than some positive Molon Labe/Come & Take It/Punisher Skull/Spartan Helmet and "Win a NEW Skyy/Tarus 368 Teal micro-carry in 9x23 Rothbard!"-stuff. The point is that those who want views, clicks, engagement, with their social media, and reposting, and links to their posts on other platforms, like this thread itself... they all know that something wrong or incorrect gets more views, links, shares & engagement than something correct. Something that makes people angry does the same. Most have heard the "How to get a good answer for XYZ on Reddit?" joke. "I ask my question, then immediately switch to an alternate account, and give a blatantly wrong and stupid answer. And countless people will flood in to downvote it, and provide good answers." This example is just the spicy version of those Third World Pakistani electricians and welders on Instagram & Facebook Reels. They know a bunch of crusty old First World guys will make comments bitching the electrical work isn't code, or the weld has shitty penetration or it's porous... And they get more engagement and activity, and they go higher in the algorithm for whatever other reason they want. Sponsorshsips, ad revenue sharing, or maybe getting other posts they actually care about pushed to the front page or top. The algorithm doesn't really know or care if people like you or hate you, or like/hate your opinions/content. Just that people viewed it, commented, or shared it. Yeah, there's probably some utility there if accounts expressing something really strident like: "We'll kill you with JDAMS if you don't give up your AR's!" got doxxed, and were [CoC violations...] and whoever actually did the IRL [CoC violations...] were never caught. I suppose that after a few instances, people would cool that sort of talk, whether they actually mean it, or are just leading angry folks around by the nose for click farming. |
