Meanwhile in Sub Saharan.....
#WSAB PRESENTS AFRICAN MAN BUILDS HIS OWN HELICOPTER |
|
He would have been okay if the one piece of the tail rotor that went up hadn't been slapped by the main rotor and sent flying straight toward him. I would have expected it to be deflected to the side.
Oh wait, now I see. The piece of the tail rotor deflected the main rotor down, and that's what hit him and the side of the cockpit. Poor guy. |

24 year old mechanic took
Two years to make a helicopter. Then has the balls to try and fly it. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Imagine where he'd have gone in life living in the US . |

View Quote Well that escalated quickly. |

View Quote That was quick ! He never knew what hit him. Too bad, the guy was clever, to have built such a thing. Not overly wise though. Still sad nonetheless. |

Quoted: Yep, a yellow safety vest and eye pro would have saved him. There’s no PPE that would have prevented a denogginization. View Quote Honestly it is pretty impressive despite the ending. Still better than at least 99.9% of Americans could build on their own. Too bad for him, he would appear to have been the type of industrious fellow you would like to have immigrate here. |

Apparently they don't teach how to maintain c-spine in Indian first aid courses

Built his own helicopter?
Check out the brains on Sheikh Ismail Sheikh Ibrahim. No seriously, they're on the ground over there. |

I’m never going to shit on someone with the drive and initiative to try and build his own helicopter, especially someone in a place like India. We did plenty of shit that killed a lot of people figuring this out in our day. Godspeed my man, I’m sorry it took you but respect for trying.

We now know what the last thing that went thru his head was....

View Quote I really find no humor in his death. A guy, with extremely limited resources, in a poor ass nation, had a dream to be a helo owner and pilot. Only path was to make one. His ambition fatally exceded his skills and resources. He at least had gumption enough to take a shot. I'll give him that. |
|
Quoted: Never saw it coming. Looked to me the tail blade disintegrated, then the shrapnel smacked the main rotor above. Then one of those dipped and killed him. |

I would be most pleased if you handle my telephone and observe this.

Probably woulda fared better being an aspiring rapper. Looks like he learned the hard way about the difference between statically balanced and dynamically balanced.

View Quote What is Punjabi for "IN"? Air Bahn Chode really spun out of control with a quickness there. |

Damn, I thought that it was just the blades coming off but it was the tail rotor that blew apart and hit the blades that killed him.

Quoted: Hmmmm great idea, build your own homemade helicopter and fly it. Rotary wing aircraft are about the most complicated contraptions you can fly... there are just too many things that can go wrong and get you killed, especially in small training or home built ones. Speaking as someone with dozens of hours in UH1's and CH-47's (as a crewman) and over a thousand hours in fixed wing aircraft as PIC. Even perfectly functioning helicopters are constantly trying to kill you! |

View Quote Well, shit. You'd think people smart enough to not take a vertical video would be able to build a helicopter that doesn't kill its pilot before takeoff. |
