Private owned scales were uncommon because they were too expensive, for a small fee everyone could use these public scales.

Obesity was (and still is today) a big problem in Soviet Russia after WW2.

No idea - just a pic posted by the  @sovietvisuals account on Twitter.   Maybe they were trying to save fuel and refusing to haul fatties on the trains, who knows

18 ARFCOM pages of Muh Russians - we need to remember this guy

The man who saved the world: The Soviet submariner who single-handedly averted WWIII at height of the Cuban Missile Crisis

Four Russian submarines secretly set sail to Cuba, with nuclear weapons
Vasili Arkhipov, who died in 1998, used last veto against firing sub's torpedo
The Russians instead surrendered and his action avoided World War Three

You have to wonder if the Cold War was really real. I mean, the U.S. and Russian military were working side by side to guard a hole in the ground during the Cold War.

What was the purpose of all the logs?  Obstacles for armor?  Trenches?  All of the above?

It'd be a bit disheartening to have the Wehrmacht at your doorstep and show up to be presented with stacks of logs for the defense.

Kamov Ka-22 Vintokryl

Yak-36

Tu-123 Yastreb (Hawk, Russian: Ястреб) was one of the earliest Soviet reconnaissance drones that began development in 1960. Sometimes referred to as the "DBR-1", it was introduced into active service in 1964.

Here’s why this Russian Mi-24 Hind Attack helicopter is painted in US Coast Guard colors

Il-20 - 1948

Tupolev Tu-22UD bomber training variant (hence a cockpit atop a cockpit) with the seats lowered for crew ingress. They would also all eject downwards; 20% of aircraft of this type were lost in various accidents.

Yes, they are.  And not only concrete, asphalt too.

Russians themselves often say that their country has two main problems: “idiots and roads”, this is what happens when both of them meet…

Possibly for building trenches and bunkers.

Movies and TV don't really show it but there is a LOT of digging and bunker building in warfare.

Very cool but also kind of useless or at least of very limited use. Similar to the world's largest nuclear bomb, boats that sort of fly, rifles that shoot underwater.

I'm not all that worried by UGVs, at least for the time being, while they still require remote control.

It's very easy to get them stuck like all armored vehicles, and there are a bunch of other drawbacks that no one seems to want to talk about.

I guess against people who don't have any tanks at all, but I don't think they would last long.
