None of those students can drive worth a shit. Edit: Also Jr is the reason for the explosion of LU. I don't even think Jerry could have imagined how much the University has taken over the city. Side note about his death, I was actually on my way to work when we got passed by a convoy of black SUV's with a police escort and we had no clue what has happening. Only later did we learn it was the Falwell's on their way to the hospital. They must have been going close to 90mph |

My main gripe about here is that the city spends most of it's money downtown rather than to widen the roads into and around the city. All of the main roads need at least 2 more lanes added to them. I remember when they built Liberty. My first cousin was married to an assistant baseball coach there and I lived within walking distance. We had permission to take any baseballs that we could find behind the fence. We used to bring home 5 gallon buckets full.

A lot of lefties in the Lynchburg area never had anything nice to say about him.
Its strange how many Left-Wing Christians there are in Lynchburg. I am currently surrounded by them, or at least they are the vocal ones and the Conservatives keep their mouths shut. |

I saw Jerry a few times up close and I'm sure we traded hellos one of those times during my 2 years on campus at liberty.
But the question I have for the current lynchburgers is this. Is the Texas Inn still around? I have fond memories of cheesy westerns and chili dogs from there. |

I used to work in Lynchburg and would listen to convocation on the radio if I was there on Wednesdays. One of his last messages, about 2 weeks before he died, stuck with me. I dont remember the entire talk, but he was speaking about how God has a plan for everyone, and until he is done with that plan, he will take care of you. Essentially you won't die until God is done using you here. Then 2 weeks later God finished his earthly assignment. I think he had been asked about his age and about death and was expounding on that some.
That bit has stayed with me ever since. My grandfather coded at the nursing home. He had had a dnr order rescinded for a surgical procedure, and a day or two later coded. He told the nurse in his room, "I guess I'll be going now". She turned around and he was blue. They shocked him a total of 6 or 7 times, and he apparently felt the last one. He said it felt like the house fell on him. He asked the doc if he was trying to kill him or something. ?? He was no worse for wear than before he coded and lived a few more months. My dad died in 2015 from a blood clot after a leg surgery. It seems as though there was no reason the ER staff didnt mitigate it. He was there for an hour at least after a medic brought him in with classic PE symptoms. They never started an IV, never pushed any drugs, but had time to take a CT scan and see the clot. ER was dead that night, so they weren't busy, etc..... Was a shitty deal all the way around. But I take comfort in knowing his work was done here and nothing can change that. |
