How about a gun related break from all the doom and gloom?

I will start it with my Smith & Wesson Model 1917 .45 ACP revolver. It is pictured with a US WW1 M1917 helmet, M1917 mounted cartridge belt, M1917 holster, and revolver half moon clip pouch, all original WW1 US items.

Only things I have are a Moisin, actually made in 1933 or so from what i can tell, a Spanish Civil War issue from what i can tell. But WWI tech.

And an 1893 Argentine Mauser. Certainly not used in WWI but of the period.

So yeah, I got nothing.

I have quite a bit of Mosins that were used during WW1.  Mostly all of them ended up in Finland. I won't post them.  Most of my other WW1 firearms, I've sold (M1917, Gew98, Belgian 89/36, M91 Carcano, Type 30 Arisaka, 1903 Springfield Mark 1, and two Enfields).  I currently own a 1904 dated Mk1*** Enfield, 1918 No1 MkIII* (NRF Peddle Scheme), and a M1895 Nagant revolver that was later used as a training revolver (as noted by the ?? marking on the side plate).  A few neat items I sold were a portrait of a German soldier, and a British Spine Pad (for use in hot climates).  I did keep a British ID tag made of brass.

Here is a 1916 dated Mosin Dragoon.  It's a little odd as the stock has no crossbolt (a rifle made in 1916 would have had the crossbolt). So, it's a later rifle with a pre-1909 stock.  It has the 2nd pattern Dragoon handguard, and a cleaning rod with an odd head.  It isn't Finn marked and has no import stamp.

Took this pic tonight.

Shoots pretty good, and is 100% reliable.

Military contract GU Spanish Ruby. I need to get more mags.

I know there aren't too many out there, it could be my grandfather's that he regretted pawning after the war.

I picked it up in a local pawn shop near where he lived for $150.

He never described it in great detail, but it was a 32acp.

I bent the front sight straight after shooting this group. Still haven't tested it again to see if I got it right.

Model 1898 Krag with WW1 dated sling.  Wasn't used on the front line, but these were used as there was a great need for weapons.

Mine whistles with a two tone note. If yours makes a siren-ish sound, that should be for battalion command. Mine would be for a company commanders. Platoon commanders had a referee's whistle. If you watch The Lost Battalion, you can see that the platoon commanders and Rick Schroeder had different whistles.

Thanks.  I love the walnut stock on this rifle.  I picked it up locally a few years ago before Facebook banned gun sales.  I lucked out and saw the ad right after it was posted.

Belonged to my grandparents' next door neighbor when I was a kid.  I spent summers at their house and sometimes after dinner I'd go over and watch a baseball game with him and he'd talk about growing up in the area in the early 1900s and what he did after the war.  Never talked about the war when I was around.  My grandfather helped him get compensation for being gassed in the Meuse-Argonne offensive, so he gave him his uniform.  When my grandfather passed a few years ago I got it.  I also have his brother's flag.  His brother died in a hospital in France and is buried in the American cemetery at Suresnes.  I don't think it was the actual flag used in his funeral, I doubt they shipped those home like that, this would have been given to his parents though.

My Great-Grandfather had gone active duty as a Colonel, from Adjudant General of Alabama National Guard, he had gone out west to prepare to go to Europe and then the war ended. The whistle would've been his.

Yeah. The top pic. The bottom is definitely a Pattern 1914 that has been given the Afghan or Paki equivalent of a "bubba" job to the stock.
