I have 2 Winchester wranglers with the large hoops in .44 mag.
Browning B92 .44 mag( real nice rifle) 1 Winchester trapper in .357. A few Ruger vaqueros in both calibers. .44 mag is the ultimate up close down south rifle. It’s a hammer caliber out of a rifle and pig poison. |

 Attached FileI'm really happy with my 2 Henry's- a 16" .22 and a model X .44. I wanted a .45-70 but it's totally overkill here and I thought it would be too much for my bad shoulders. .44 is a great carbine round, 180 grain Remingtons are over 2000fps per Lucky Gunner. I can hunt with it, it's a blast to shoot and I take it along when I fly to California. I've had an RPP handguard for a while that I need to install, I want a side mounted sling and light and that's not possible with the factory front end. Mine initially held 7 rounds in the tube but has broken in enough to now hold 8. The factory rear sight sucks; I don't mind the buckhorn on the .22 but there's no spot to hold on the front sight on the 44. I'm considering doing some scope juggling and taking the Leupold 2.5x20 off my main AR and putting it on the .44. The 22 is half cock and the 44 has a transfer bar, kinda wish they had the same safety. The new Marlin 1894 SBL .44 is exactly what I originally wanted, maybe I'll grab one down the line to protect myself from midsize dinosaurs. Out of my 25 or so lever actions, my favorite is a 1906 Winchester 1892, which started life as a 32-20 octagon barrel rifle that my Dad sent to P.O. Ackley circa 1960 to cut down and convert to .357 Mag.
It was also fitted with a 1906 silver dime fashioned into a front sight blade Dad sent along. I still have the work order and invoice in a file someplace! Dad also had his childhood friend, Bruce Meek, author of The Art of Engraving, "do a little scratching" on it as a favor to him when he got it back. Slick as snot and cycles .38 Spec. and .357 Mag like butter. Around 1978 I was shooting it and the ejector broke and I just happened to see it lying on the carrier after the last round. As luck would have it, Browning had just came out with their Miroku B92 replicas in .44 and .357. A replica ejector dropped right in and has been flawless to this day. Those early Browning/Miroku reproductions were faithful to the original design! |

My grail gun is a Ruger 99/44. It's a scaled up 10/22 chambered in .44 magnum. They have been out of production for a long time. I found magazines today for under 30 bucks and I'm giving serious consideration to pulling the trigger on one.

Buck19Delta, your Rossi 92 stainless should be drilled and tapped under the rear barrel sight for a scout mount. I put a Holosun rds on mine. Quick and deadly! Mine is a trapper, 16” bbl.

Well, um yeah. 44 mag and .357 mag rifles haven't been around that long because the cartridges are relatively new. We had the 1873 and 1892 in pistol calibers since, well 1873 and 1892. Now a days the 44-40 class isn't as common but back then they were as common as 9mm and .45s.

I would like to see more handy rifles chambered for the 460 and 500 S&W. Lever guns, pump guns, or magazine fed semi autos...just more cartridge selections. The 44 mag will do just about everything, but I just want more possibilities. A pump rifle in 460 S&W with a 10 cartridge magazine would be just awesome.

I love .357 magnum. Rifles, handguns, doesn't matter...
My Henry Big Boy, right after zeroing. I've had 3 different Rossi R92s, and almost everything about this gun is SO much better...except for the size and weight. This thing's a little chunkier and heavier but IMO, everything else makes up for it. Since I despise the usual semi-buckhorn sights that come on Henrry's and Rossi's, I put an XS sights rail up top with a threaded rear sight post, along with a Williams. 093 aperture (have to use the long shank version), and a leather wrap for the lever from Hellhound Leather Co, because wtf not. The XS irons beat the shit out of the factory sights, and shooting it with them was so much fun that I nearly left the RDS (a Primary Arms SLX - excellent sight, btw) off of it. Luckily, it seems to like PMC 158grn JSP ammo, and grouped right at 2" at 100yds with it.

I am not a huge fan of the rubber butt pad, but beyond that, it's not bad. I might go with a Magpul stock when they make one for the Henrys. I did the para cord. Saw a youtube video. |

I am also a lover of 44 and 357 rifles.
My favorite is probably my Ruger 77/44. The thing is beautiful. Wood stock, blued steel, and the action is very smooth and tight. I also have a 99/44 which is the later (mini 14 style) semi auto with detachable mags. I bought a 10 round mag for it (that also fits the 77/44) but have not tried it yet. I do not shoot it much for fear of breaking parts, as replacement parts are pretty much not available. I am on the constant search for a 77/357 in the ever elusive blued finish (most all are stainless, but a few blued ones were made). I then have a pair of Marlin 1894's. One in 44 and the other in 357. Both very early 80's models (pre safety). I just picked up a used Henry model X in 44. Looks almost new. I tried it out with my can a couple weeks ago with some subs and liked it. Gonna start working up a load for it. I may pick up a 357 model X. Have not decided yet. I also have 14 inch barrels in 357 and 44 for my desert eagles. With those barrels, they are almost honorary carbines |

I cleaned and function checked a Ruger .44 carbine for a coworker after his son left it where it got rained on and it had rust.
I'd never had my hands on one before, and now I've wanted one ever since. Damn it the prices they go for now though. |

I have a 44 mag winchester 94. It was Bubba fucked, so it is just a beater to me. It is fun, but with a steel butt plate, surprisingly painful with stout loads.
I like it. Eventually I will get a pistol can and Bubba fuck it even further by suppressing it.

I'm tempted to buy a new RM 1894, partly to compare to my old gun. I saw a RM and a new S&W in the rack earlier this week; a S&W is also tempting.
My .25-20 Win chambered 1894 is the most fun. The .44 Mag is less fun with stout loads. |

Picked up one of the new .357 1894 Ru-Mars back in February. It's been flawless in .38 and .357.
