I have had number of .357 lenmver guns, Henry, Rossi and Winchester.
.357 and .44 are tons of fun out of a rifle and if load you can do some really cool loads with both of those calibers. The Japanese manufactured (Miroku) Wichester 1892's are beautifully made guns. |

A buddy’s wife has a Marlin in .357. Fast shooting and low recoil and accurate to 100 yards. Cheap to shoot as well.
I’d hate to be in a gunfight with her. |

The first lever action rifle I bought was a Marlin (JM) 1894S in cal .44 mag.
I loved the rifle, it was very fun to shoot but I hated the microgroove barrel because I mainly shot cast bullets and it was a bitch to keep the rifling from getting leaded up. So I finally sold it. But I replaced it with a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited (Remlin) cal .44 mag. I already had one of those rifles in cal .45 Colt - now I have a matched pair. I think there's a factory 395 .450 Hornady subsonic load, there's also a guy on Paco's levergun forum who shoots 400's out of a .44 Redhawk. I've read that the Redhawk and Super Redhawk have longer cylinders so that might not work in other guns. If I really wanted to shoot heavy, suppressed subsonic loads and not get into the .45-70 upcharge I think I'd go with a Henry X in .44 or .45. I should temper that with I don't have any suppressors and 44/45 is a better SD round (family in Cali, so who cares ) than .45-70.From my time here, @Morgan321 is a suppressed levergun guy worth listening to. 👌 |

There's a Ruger .44 Deerstalker, a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag and a Rossi Puma 92 in 357 kicking around here. Probably a couple more but I've had a kick ass flu and my heads a bit fuzzy.

Henry had one on their site but I didn't care for the black elastic with the leather. |

I have not found it to be ammo picky. It is however magazine picky. I had lots of jams when I first got it, the bolt was not always catching the rim to feed, then then it would catch the middle of the case instead and jam. I only had 1 mag. I ended up stumbling across one setting on a table at a gun show for $5 and bought it. My issues magically went away with that magazine. It turned to being 100% reliable. Inspection found that the mag that came with it, had a significantly weaker spring. The gunshow mag was much stronger. Seems the problem was the mag was not feeding the rounds fast enough for the bolt. I also ended up buying a 77/44 and it came with a few mags. (I love that rifle as well) I found one of the mags it came with also had a strong spring and it works great in the deerfield. All the rest of the mags have weaker springs and cause jams, but naturally work great in the 77/44 bolt action. I ordered a couple brand new factory ruger mags that say they are for the deerfield and 77/44, thinking the weak spring ones were from being left loaded, but they have the weaker springs and do not work with the deerfeild. I do not know why these two random mags have much stronger springs, but they do and they work. So I at least have two working mags. I did buy the aftermarket 10 round mag but have not had a chance to try it out yet. The mags are not much different from 10/22 mags and I tried taking them apart and giving the spring/follower another turn to tension the spring more, but it did not work, the spring will bind/jam with another rotation. Unlike the 10/22 mags that have a small hex nut that lets you tension the springs a little at a time. The 77/44 and deerfield only let you do one full rotation at a time. So it is either too much, or not enough. I do kinda hesitate to shoot it much for the above mentioned parts non availability. A little afraid something might break and I will not be able to get parts. |

Since seeing this thread, I have bought a IMI timberwolf in 357. Then I have now added a remington 788 in 44 mag (should show up at my dealer monday) and also found a vulcan 44 mag pump (sending payment today). Now to find the 44 mag timberwolf..... |

I wonder what their street price will be. You can find Henry single shots but they’re $400 or so. Speaking of guns, I wonder if Ron Williams still makes the .357/.44/.50ae AR uppers.

I am a 41 mag addict. The perfect caliber. My favorite “drag thru the woods” gun is a stainless marlin 1894 in 41mag. I own another that is damn near unfired. I have a blue 357, but want a stainless one.

I love my Rossi Ranch Hand in 357 Mag, put a tax stamp on it & stock a few years back, it is an absolute giggle machine when shooing .38 Special out of it too. And accurate out to 75 yards. I may take it deer hunting this fall.
I also have a Henry in 41 Mag. Love it too. I also have a Win 94 Trapper Carbine in .44 Mag still in the box, that I bought when stationed at Ellsworth AFB SD back in 1994. A few years back I also bought a stainless 77/44, I really need to get it to the range too.

Have them come with mag well adapters to use desert eagle magazines. OR if a company would just make a semi auto carbine again. Ruger should bring back the Deerfield and also chamber it in 357, AND come with mag well adapters to use desert eagle mags (kinda like their mag well adapters for the PC carbine) My wet dream would be a semi auto carbine with interchangeable barrels (and bolts) to be able to swap between 357, 44, and 50AE. Basically a desert eagle carbine. |
