People are jumping into the ocean to escape. https://twitter.com/i/status/1689287342987657216 People Locator Maui Facebook Maui 24/7 https://www.facebook.com/maui247/ Places to donate info, if you are looking: King's Cathedral (777 Maui Veterans Highway, Kahului, HI 96732) Hope Chapel (300 E Welakahao Rd, Kihei, HI 96753) Maui Food Bank (760 Kolu Street, Wailuku, HI 96793-1438) These two churches are good donation options. King's Cathedral has set up a shelter in their church building and is currently helping many from Lahaina and also tourist stuck here that need to get home. They have teamed up with Costco to get donations to the victims of the wildfires. Hope Chapel in Kihei is getting set up to help victims of the Lahaina fire. They are a good donation. Maui Food Bank also teams up with Costco. The Maui Food Bank from what I have heard is Costco's biggest buyer and the food bank's dollar goes further than an individual's dollars. Thanks for asking, all help is appreciated |

Would have taken 30 seconds to get out and drag that lady into the car.

Sad, I was in Lahaina 2 weeks ago, beautiful historic tourist town.

Those videos where people have to drive through the fire zone to escape are always terrifying

I'm supposed to be there in 2 weeks. Mrs TB is frantically cancelling resort and flights.

Volcanic island chains were never meant to be inhabited by wyte pepo.

Wildfires on the Big Island as well.
There's apparently a wildfire near where we are moving in a few years. Because we own the land, we are on the mailing list for the community, and there were some panicked emails yesterday. The fire jumped across the highway, which freaked out a lot of people. Apparently a building was lost further south, and in the community across the street a roof caught fire - but the house was saved. |

My girlfriend is in LA now, as her flight to Maui was delayed because of the fires. I had not heard of the wildfires prior to this morning. I guess her sister's place is not near them, otherwise they would have been notified ahead of time. Still, this is news to me.

See what happens when you legalize butterfly knives!
This is what happens! |

Our resort is in Lahaina. We only booked because we had miles from a previous cancelled trip to S. Africa. No big deal, just going to sit my ass on the beach in Florida instead.

They shoulda picked that lady up. I know they are straight out panicking but still....

Terrible...
When the basic offshore trades exceed 30+, the venturi effect on the islands is going to be ridiculous. I bet the soil erosion in the now abandoned cane fields is atrocious. |

I’ve got some friends that live upcountry from there. Hope they get it out soon.

Yes, it's going to be brutally hot opening those doors, but to just pass by her like that? I don't know. Put the fucking phone down, and try do something? |

Sounds like the governor should just iutlaw wildfires.
That'll fix it. |

There, I hope that helps them |

Local fires here a guy picked up a burned woman, not recognizing it was his wife, https://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/2020/09/the-desperate-fight-to-save-his-family-ends-in-tragedy.html |

I am going with the lady on the ground was DOA.
There is no way I am judging their action or inactions. It is a fight or flight type situation where you are looking your own death right in the eyes. We can sit here and say what if what if all day long. |

I can sit on someones lap or vice versa if it means saving an unconscious/possibly alive woman. Or prop the trunk open and put her in......if she is dead I can understand not doing it... That video looks like a vision of Hell |

I didnt know wildfires were a thing in Hawaii. I thought it rained there almost daily so I assumed it would be too wet for them.
