CA can (and does) eat a bag of dicks, but the B&W with the agency badge on the door is what I consider classic police car livery.  Recognizable, simple and clean.

Ain’t that the truth.

Every time I see one I wonder if it’s a police surplus vehicle or an actual cop car.

Because the paint scheme is just weird, the proportions are off, and it's a boring picture?

Other agencies have Challengers, and others look better than that one.

The proportions may look a little off, but ask any Floridian; those proportions along with that color scheme with the fde on top make them damn tricky to see.  I spend a fair amount of time in other states, including NY.  Silver troopers stand out like a sore thumb.  The blue trooper cars in NY do a fair job of hiding.

But FL?  Those cars are damn hard to spot in a median or when they’re trying to hide.  And when they’re coming up behind you, the paint scheme tends to break up the shape of the car and make them a bit trickier to spot.

There’s actually a rationale to that paint scheme, beyond putting a lighter color on the roof to try and keep it cool in the sun.  The others are cool, but there’s a lot of function in the FHP color scheme

Unless you are a tennis ball.

We were driving across country in an RV a couple of years ago. I can't even begin to tell you where we were other than the great USofA, but there were high gloss burgundy/crimson police cars that blew my mind. They were absolutely beautiful. Everything about the car was just incredible ... from the graphics to the color. And then the police uniform was badass, too. I got up close and personal after being pulled over for speeding. I deserved a heavily expensive ticket, but after I got to talking to the officer about his uniform and his patrol car --- he gave me and the wife and kids a tour of it and didn't ticket us at all.

Yeah... CHP's black and whites are some of the most iconic police cruisers out there.

Here's a gallery for the contest: https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/18/state-police-highway-patrol-cruiser-contest/#slide-2153717

Not sure what state this is, but I kinda like this one:

https://s.aolcdn.com/dims-global/dims3/GLOB/legacy_thumbnail/1049x590/quality/80/https://s.aolcdn.com/os/ab/_cms/2019/07/17130155/best-looking-state-police-cruiser-23-copy.jpg

I've always been amused by the way Missouri always got vehicles in completely random colors and slapped the badging on:

https://s.aolcdn.com/dims-global/dims3/GLOB/legacy_thumbnail/1049x590/quality/80/https://s.aolcdn.com/os/ab/_cms/2019/07/17130153/best-looking-state-police-cruiser-21.jpg

It was funny going to the state fair and seeing rows of them in all kinds of weird colors. Black, white, beige, baby blue, burgundy, sage green... whatever. I always wondered if they got some kind of discount from the OEMs for that.

I always figured MO Highway Patrol just bought whatever unsold stock the dealers had at the end of the year. Not only are there colors random but so are the vehicle specs. Obviously they're not doing big fleet orders.

Getting a car lettered with a shitty design costs basically the same as to get it put together with a good looking one.  And police cars are some of the most visible part of the local government so making it look nice reflects on the city/state/county.

I remember when Alabama State Police were running those ADPS Javelins for 'interceptors'. They were running 401cid 4-barrel V8 engines backed by a Borg-Warner automatic transmission.

Out of the 132 ADPS Javelin fleet in 1971-72 only 24 are known to still be in existence.
