I’m guessing a suspension switch would be too much for them to handle at this point (and I would bet they aren’t the only team to make that decision).

The source (Giuliano Duchessa) is well connected within the team and is usually a very reliable source.

Sigh.  This will be the death of Ferrari.  100m a year is absurd...but supporting him on his bullshit causes......thats well past the line.

Forbes says Max is on $70m. I don't understand why they'd pay $100m for Hamilton at this stage of his career, he's almost doubled his salary.

FWIW, Max’s base is $50m, the additional $20m came from win bonuses.

That said, I’m not shocked that Ferrari would pay Hamilton $100m. It’s a vintage Ferrari move.

F1 would love to get F1 as popular here as it is in Europe, because money.  DTS is starting to do that for them. There is Hass, but I don't really think we care that much that there is a American team or driver.  It is more than anything a British sport given that most of the teams are just north of London.

Is his salary actually $100m? Or is his contract structured in a way where with performance bonuses it's worth up to $100m?

Probably can't be answered yet, but I have a feeling that's what it really is. I'm sure he's still making loads of money though, and to that I say good for him.

He tied Alonso and missed out on the championship by one point in his rookie year.  He has lost out to his teammate 3 times total.

Which does compare reasonably well to this guy if you ignore the ill advised come back attempt in a midfield car.  There were those that didn't like him either.  Part of that is a tendency to want to cheer for the underdog.  If you win several championships, you aren't the underdog. Expect to see the same thing with Max. It isn't rational, but it is a thing.

He also initially retired at age 38.

Interesting. So it sounds like Hamilton and Leclerc will be getting along just fine if this report has any validity, and Sainz knew he was losing the seat to him weeks ago.

Absolutely.

Everyone is so quick to argue and put down someone who likes a different driver, and we all wind up missing the truth.   And the truth is often somewhere in the middle.

It sounds like both drivers knew in advance that Lewis was coming on board.

Perhaps that was used by Ferrari to encourage LeClerc to "get on with it" and accept more neutral terms?

The article phrases it like LeClerc was thrilled to see him join, but who really knows.

Sucks for Sainz though.  Hopefully he gets a decent seat for 2025

I feel like RIC should suck-off the team that threw him a life preserver and enjoy the hand he’s been dealt. Personally, I think SAI would be a better fit at Mercedes.

Odds are he is fucked, but there are three possible situations.

- Uncontrolled leak, nonsense.
- Uncontrolled leak, legit.
- Controlled leak, legit.

These types of issues seem to leak later in the process. It’s HR related and everyone with any lick of sense stays out of the nonsense. So..it either leaks from the aggrieved’s side as the final card they have left to play (sully the reputation) or it leaks from the team side as a precursor to the formal process of termination.

With this being leaked to a Dutch news outlet, it smells like a controlled leak from the team.

If he isn’t released in the next 24 hours, he probably won’t be.

The details are coming out fast enough now to assume either a “hail Mary” attempt by one side or the team is prepping a fast exit.

How stupid do you have to be to send photos to a co-worker in this day and age? Because of the level of stupidity involved, I'm skeptical. I mean, throwing away such a high profile, high pay job like F1 team boss over dick picks?

Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

Keep in mind that sending pics is one of the few scenarios that could be faked. And to that end, it could be a third party with both Horner and the recipient being completely innocent.
