Swear I read that.

Of course that doesn't account for the other troops and gear.

Bet he takes eastern Ukraine to connect Crimea. Which might be why he's pushing for not allowing Ukraine to join NATO after. They'd no longer be a contested country or whatever.

He either does nothing or takes a large part and leaves the rest. Don't think he could pull off the whole country.

So they think Putin will try to keep everyone on edge for another 8-12 months, and grind down the opposition.  Sounds familiar like China buzzing Taiwan continuously to wear down Taiwain Air force.    The question is how long can the Russian military sustain what they're doing now.

If Biden/EU/Nato had any balls they'd all tell Putin "we're done talking" go away.

Russia doesn't have to sell Belarus anything.

Should Russia desire a massive military presence there they will have it.

B-52's aren't going to do anything unless Russia crosses into another Country besides Ukraine.  Buffs striking Russian targets inside Ukraine will be seen by Russia as an act of war and then all best are off the table.

Or if the sanctions will be crippling, why wouldn’t they be motivated to try to grab the Baltic states?  Sure, it would cause an Article 5 invocation, but it’s possible that they feel confident in success if they can bring it to a hasty conclusion.

What would they need in order to accomplish that?  Could their current deployments support such a play?  They’ve moved a lot of Iskander batteries with full logistics trains toward the west for instance.

Don’t forget that the idea of short war concessions cause the Japanese to miscalculate that one time.
