A clue that before the F-16's arrive, they will come with encrypted digital datalink systems. Something like Link-16 to share radar data from across the Ukrainian air defense network of radars and sensors.
  Which, allows you to see stuff like this on your threat warning display. Red= Bad guys both air and ground targets Blue and Green=Good guys Yellow=Unknown as of yet You=White box with a cross in it  |

The other benefit is with the 5 drones claimed to have been used, it amounts to 1.25 million dollars, against a 50+ million dollar Russian ship. My BIL was in the Marines, and he told me they were trained to place a thermite grenade on the engine block of a vehicle they wanted to destroy in the field. It is also rumored that Russia used a thermite grenade dropped from a drone to blow up an ammunition depot in Lithuania ? years ago. |

A good point, notice that this is the Russian idea of having adequate air defense on a Corvette nowadays.  You really don't want to use land based air defense systems on naval platforms, because they aren't stabilized for the roll and pitch of the ship. Their radar systems also are not optimized for working over water.
