A former coworker broke a leg while bicycling in one of the South American countries while on vacation. He wound up losing his leg below the knee, and was addicted to whatever sedatives they used. He was transported out near death and spent months in a hospital/rehab before he could come back to work.

Last year was the year of the backup QB.

If the trend continues again this year I wonder if there will be a correction (or at least slowing down) of paying a single QB majority of the teams cap space.

Maybe a bad take but it's something to think about.

A more likely response will be yet more rules to protect QBs.  The NFL loves the revenue associated with QB star power.

Yeah, field was shit, but not the reason he got hurt.

NFL should be fucking embarrassed between their players slipping everywhere, QB getting hurt, ans the 17+ penalties.

Should the tackle that injured Love had been a flag?

I think the guy down low was already on the ground then grabbed his legs.  That's the only reason I can think of that they didn't flag them for hitting the QB low.

I agree with your assessment.

The only thing I’d add is the field conditions appeared to influence that Eagles defender going to the ground in the first place.

For some reason my gut says he’ll be out ~4 weeks but obviously there is the chance it’s a season ender which would be a shame.

I’m just going off of memory, but didn’t JLove start running towards the LOS from the pocket before contact was obviously imminent and then he pitched it to Jacobs?

That seems important, I feel like you can’t be pissed about high/low if your QB appears to be getting ready to scramble up the middle.

I never thought they should have been flagged.

Here's a video rather than a still photo for more context. Love is trying to get away and Carter tries wrapping him up from the ground. I don't understand what would warrant a flag. Unfortunate, hope he's not out long.

The NFL knows that the vast majority of fans don’t care (they watch on TV) and it is a huge growth potential going forward.

The ownership loves it as it will increase valuations and ultimately allow then to sell minority stakes to private equity (like other international sports).

I don't get it. He would have been a free agent after this year, he could have shown up, had a good year, cash in next year. All those fines, he is never making that money back.

No.

He's a 30 year old pass rusher.

Standing his ground on this is the right choice, and that's before considering the Jets play in Met Life Stadium.

Maybe so. If he had had a good year though, above average pass rushers will have a market. IMO he has lost more in fines than he will gain.

Losing millions in fines and salary is hard to relate to with that kind of stubborness. Could have easily done a hold in. Sounds like all they wanted was for him to show up first to start negotiating.

Anyone know if there are cheaper options to watch the Bears game from Nevada? Don’t want to pay for NFL ticket when I wont need it for every game. Can you pay for just single games?

This. The fines for being there and not participating are much lower as I understand it.

Coulda just lit that $$ on fire. At least you’d have the roster spot to bring in a young player with some speed.
