Question for those who have waited since early last year. Myself and two buddies ordered February 8, 2021.
All three of us originally said mid to late 2021. Then my buddies were updated to "Mid 2022", however mine says April 2022. They both actually have Internet from other providers, whereas I am in an area where I can't get anything but maybe dial-up. Does the fact that I have an actual month listed versus just a generic "Mid 2022" mean that I may actually get it soon? |

Oh damn, I thought it just plugged directly into my mesh router. Guess I'll buy an adapter then. Still not sure were I'm going to mount it either. |

View Quote You can use a router with DD-WRT to bridge the wifi to ethernet. I do it with my cell phone hotspot when the DSL is down so the whole house wiring can still access internet. ETA: Be sure to turn off DHCP on router so Starlink can assign IP addresses. |

Wife and I are looking at a house today but only internet available there is dogshit.
Checked with Starlink and they are saying 2023 or later as they are at their maximum number of subscribers for the area already. |

I was delayed a few times. Most recently to March 2022 a couple months back. Just got my order confirmation and equip will ship in 2 weeks. This is Western North Carolina.

View Quote Check with tmobile, if you ask nicely and they have any coverage in the area at all they'll possibly let you try a home internet setup. I get better speeds than starlink at $50/mo, I was so glad when they came to my area because otherwise I would still be waiting for starlink. I get around 150 mbps down and 80-90 up now and every few months it seems to improve. Not to discount how amazing starlink is, home cell service internet has come a long way and a lot of people don't realize how usable it is now. If you have coverage of course. |

I don't know if you can add it to the primary order, because we didn't do it that way, but it's easy to order after that. My son bought the primary equipment early in the morning, then during his lunch break we talked about what else to get. He ordered the extras while we were talking. |

Guy in my area (not known to me personally) is posting pictures of his new Starlink set up.
He went with the premium dish. Wow. I wonder if you can get the premium dish (pay the $2500) and then use it for the normal service, $100 a month. Would that be possible? Would it be beneficial? |

My dish arrived today, from a Feb 21 order. Will get it up and running this weekend and post up some speed results as well.

My replacement Starlink arrived today, hopefully plug and play tommorrow.

Well, the guy came to the door yesterday to sell me Spectrum internet from the fiber lines they put across the street.
I signed up. Installation is free if I sign up for tv AND internet, and I can cancel the tv after a month, which I will do. If I can get the prep work done, I'll have fiber in 10 days. It's weird that I kinda wanted to be part of the Starlink thing. Not sure it makes sense to go ahead with it once I get the fiber installed, though. 200 mbps for $55 and no installation cost is a really good deal. I do have to determine whether that is a "promotional" rate though. Glad to see some of you are getting your stuff after a long wait. |

Got mine temporarily set up since it's the Gen 2 version and WIFI only which is utter bullshit. Now I have to wait for an ethernet adapter to ship sometime in March, again bullshit.
In order to have no obstructions I've got it mounted on a shed roof which is about 25' from the house and it's WIFI strength isn't very good so it doesn't reach the house. The only reason I've got it up set up this way which really isn't viable in the house is to see what kind of speeds I get consistently before making the effort for a permanent install. Some random speed tests within the first hour have been as high as 196 down, 25 up which is 4x what I get with my current WISP. |

Mine arrived almost a year to the day of my preorder . Setup the unit and it stayed in the “booting” mode for hours . I did all the expected troubleshooting with no luck .
Contacted starlink CS and they messaged back the next day saying they are shipping a whole new unit and giving me a $99 credit to my account . Hopefully the new system arrives soon . |

Very pleased to say that Starlink is up and running at my cabin. This reply message is sent via that system. At last.

I finally got notification that they are shipping mine for northwestern Arizona. It was a year to the day that I placed my initial order. They've been busy giving them to people in the city who have half a dozen options instead of us who are stuck with shitty 4G data capped coverage. "I only get like 90mbps, its okay I guess."
Motherfucker, you don't know what pain is until you're getting 2-3mbps if you're lucky in the middle of the night with OTR mobile and that's your best option after installing 800 dollars worth of directional antenna's to boost your signal. |

Do I have to have an active Starlink dish to order accessories off the Starlink store?
I’m also going to email Starlink too. I re-read it and answered my own question. Attached File |

My son and his wife ordered Starlink last year sometime in the summer. We got it a couple of weeks ago. Other than drilling a hole in the exterior wall for the cable the setup went rather easy. Just as an FYI, I had a old dish network dish on the roof. I pulled off the the dish part and the starlink pole fit in the dish base without any issues and is a snug fit.
Attached File I have Frontier internet here in Central Utah (It's that or Centracom) and my nook is etherneted into the router, while I can connect to Starlink via wireless, I am far enough way that the signal strength is poor. My son who bought the hard line adapter for the starlink is getting 275 to 300 mbs download. So I ran a speedtest comparing the wireless starlink on my nook to the etherneted frontier. Just received mine yesterday after a month and a half wait, and boy was it worth it! Blows Viasat out of the water. I just threw it out on the ground and ran the cable under the door for now. Getting average 200 MBS down and about 30 or so up consistently. I ordered the pipe adapter so I can use the existing Viasat mount on the roof for a permanent install. What a revolutionary product. I just hope they don't start with data caps or speed throttling crap.

Lost Starlink for about 30 minutes in a REALLY heavy snowfall today. Other than that, working just fine.

With the design on the modem I thought there would be some cool lighting on it, but I've got nothing. Works great though. I need to order the ethernet adapter and a roof mount. I also need to decide what streaming service to use to get the local networks so I can dump DIRECTV.

Local wisps in my area are improving speeds and reliability. 50/10, 25/10 speeds are plenty for the average streamer or work from home types. I'd rather support local businesses like that than a massive company that's destined to fail.
