Got my Starlink order today in western NC. It's everything I thought it would be and more. We went from 2.5 mb DSL to 120 and as high as 250 down.. about 15 up. Average of 30ms ping.

It's freaking amazing.

@Ytka
Is the Verizon offer wireless? And for the entire state? We have Verizon phone service.
Thanks.

Router in the second house.  No problems connecting to anything there  The only thing I really need to connect to out there are the garage door openers.

I stalled canceling until the last day. I think I'm going to stick with T-Mobile for the time being.

The "juice vs the squeeze" for the little Mbps just isn't enough for me.

If the time arises that I need Starlink. Hopefully it'll be in full processing mode and I can just order with no prolonged wait times.

My Ethernet adapter got delivered this Easter Sunday morning but still no mount. I may have to just order something on Amazon.

I RV camped this weekend and confirmed that the roaming works.  I was about 200 miles from my address.  It does seem that you get last dibs on bandwidth when traffic in the area is high as it did go offline a few times.  There was a little message saying that roaming could be limited or unavailable.

I absolutely hate Fed Ex!!!!!   I spent all day drilling holes through floors, walls, etc. to run Ethernet to my televisions and PC.  Starlink Ethernet adapter was loaded on the truck for delivery, but no, hell no!!!  "Local delivery restriction, - delivery not attempted".  What the hell does that mean?  I hate those motherfuckers!!!

Yes, I have hit different servers using Speedtest.
I’m using the Starlink router.   It’s in my office in the far corner of the basement I may move it, to see if speed improves in other areas of the house.
Both my iPhone & iPad are 5G.   What’s weird is my iPad is a lot slower than my phone, almost half as fast in the same location.  Here’s my SL App Speedtest

Yes they are, but I got much better speeds this morning, 151 up & 18 down, so maybe it was just a glitch yesterday.  I'll monitor it and if things slip back I'll call SL Cust Support.  My DSL was 12-15 up and .8 down, do I'm still doing a lot better than I was doing Sunday.

Cancelled my starlink order.

Originally paid the $99.00 deposit in Feb/March of last year.

The promise date was bumped too many times, now shows 2023.

Two years is freaking ridiculous after first being promised about a six month wait.

T-mobile 5G internet is 100 times faster than ATT dsl and faster than some have with Starlink going by the speed test screen caps, with zero deposit and having fast internet three days after I ordered the modem.

If this is an option for you, Starlink isn't for you anyway.

I think many folks are forgetting Starlink is still a beta service.

This seems to hold true for most who decide to cancel the Starlink preorder.  Most then state "Well hell, I've got this other great option available to me RIGHT NOW".  I did not have that option.  We had shitty service (Rise Broadband) that was literally offline more than it was online for most waking hours.  Their customer service would defend that by stating that our service was online at a much higher rate...from midnight-7AM

We're about three days into our Starlink experience and I've got nothing but compliments for it so far.

T-mobile became an option after I made my Starlink reservation.  I think this is the case for most people here.

Despite apparent rumors (and even an Elon tweet) to the contrary, it's still beta.

People get different answers when asking support.  I suspect what has happened is SL is adding functionality and so the 'beta' is continuing.

The catch is, T-mobile just became available for most of us within the last 6 months or so.

So Starlink was the answer.  It just took too long to get here. I understand the "beta" stuff. Musk was just too slow.

Shit happens.

Same.

I had no internet options other than Hughesnet.  I refused to pay for shitty service.

So I had no home internet.  I preordered Starlink, got pushed off past a year.  In the meantime, T-mobile has greatly increased their service (specifically to compete with Starlink, according to the guy I talked to) and became an option for me.  I went with T-mobile as Starlink price went up and my date got pushed out to late 2022.

I tried TMobile again in February and it's still not available at my place in SW Florida. The explanation they gave me was there is no available bandwidth on the tower near me.

I do know that in my area TMobile has some really shitty coverage on the phone side.

On another note...Centurylink DSL still sucks dog balls....

Not to derail the thread, but what sucks about it? Just slow?

I have CenturyLink DSL. At first it was fucking horrible. Constant connectivity issues and disconnections. After a month or two I got a technician out to look into it. Turns out the phone line wiring in my house was dog shit. Tons of interference. It was like pulling teeth (even offered him some ammo) to get him to run a single line direct to my server room - but we got it done. It's been completely trouble free ever since. Seriously rock solid stable. I've since ripped out all the old phone line and replaced it with Cat 6 cable.

Honestly it's gotten better but it's still slow. 5M down and like .25M up.

My biggest complaint other than slow is pricing. No deals available and it's currently 90/month.

At least since I'm single, I don't overload the connection watching TV...

ETA...200 yards away is Comcast fiber. I'm in a different town and they won't run it down my street...lol....

Starlink is out of beta.

My only option when I signed up with starlink last year was shitty DSL.  Most of the time I could not even stream in 480p.

I actually had faster internet using my 4g phone as a hot spot, but I was limited to 6 Gigs a month.

As soon as I had T-mobile offered in my area I jumped on it.

I waited and waited for Starlink all of last year while watching the promise date get farther and farther away.
