Yup.  There network statistics doesn't seem to be very accurate either, as it doesn't show this.

I was down for about 15-20 min.  When i used our other (soon to be gone service), and logged in to starlink , there is a red banner stating we are experiencing degraded network in our area....

32.41000  lat/long

Finally got a confirmed order for a buddy and I.  We were on the wait list for over 2 years, on the wait list for the Starlink Premium too but will run this until it comes out.

Going to be nice to have a modicum of civilization out here finally.

I've been chuckling at the people that have been using rocks, sandbags, ratchet straps, etc. to hold down their dishes.  I'm not laughing anymore. Today mine blew off the barbecue it was sitting on and over the deck railing.    It's tied down now.  Still works after hanging by the cord and banging against the railing.

This might be a dumbass general starlink question but here goes anyway

I preordered in February of 2021

When I log into starlink.com, it says service is expected in my area mid 2022

According to the service map they just (quietly) released, I’m just outside the current service area

Is there any action I need to take or is this like waiting for my Form 4, just like magic I get a email someday?

Just keep waiting and hoping.  You can also pass the time by cursing the people in this thread that post when they get theirs.  Lots of us pre-ordered at the same time last February.

Get one of the smaller satellite J pole mounts, like this:

Amazon J Pole

And then get a 1 1/4 inch emt coupler.  Coupler slides tight over the j pole and the starlink dish arm.  I've done three this way.  Works great.

Nice, I could have use one of those yesterday when I mounted mine to the roof.  I ended up using foam tape a bolt and a self tapping screw to secure the dish pole to the mount arm.

If I was that close to an open cell, I'd sign up for an account using an address inside that area under a different email address and have it shipped immediately. Cancel your original deposit when it's received.

For real. I was looking for something like that, but I just made a 14x24 plate to mount to the existing satellite dish hardware on the roof for now.

Yeah you can only use it with the original router. You walk around your house and it measures your WiFi signal to identify poor signal areas in your house.

@CJ7365

Through the wifi router that comes with the starlink.  Haven't ordered the etherner adapter yet but am curious to see how much faster it will be hardwired.

I'll give the wifi router two thumbs up for how far it reaches from one end of the house to the other with one bar dropped max, but typically holds full wifi strength.

For the other poster... ordered last year around Jan/February ... whenever it first became available to get on the waiting list in my area.

I first placed my deposit on Feb 2021.

I got an email on Apr 22, 2022 that it is available for shipment, placed my final order the same day and received my Starlink yesterday.

I had DSL before  3 mps at most.

With Starlink im getting over 70mps

Thanks for the info, my best download speed has been 70mps, not complaining as I only had DSL before with at most 3 mps

I ordered the network adapter when I paid for the dish, starlink show shipping adapter 5-9 May

I am seeing packet loss on a few of the posted speed tests. Is this normal? I have been preordered since early last year and want it for FPS gaming.

I have been using a local WISP that is garbage with constant packet loss and real late packets (100/10mbps speeds). DSL before that, that was more usable for gaming but very slow. I was hoping Starlink would be an improvement over either. Seems like the speeds are potentially a bit better than the WISP.

Since I'm running Starlink and my old DSL through a load balanced connection, I can probably give you more info than most. My firewall monitors both connections and reports their health. Here's Starlink over the last 20 hours:

Here is my CenturyLink connection over the same 20 hours:

Here's Starlink zoomed in over the last 9 hours or so:

Here's CenturyLink zoomed in over the same time frame:

Starlink definitely has packet loss more often, but it's a pretty low number. Overall, pings for gaming appear to be lower than CenturyLink (sometimes by a LOT) but they are quite variable. Here's connection stats from dishy:

I have used a local WISP and they were horrendous. My DSL connection is much better than the WISP. Starlink is at least as good as the DSL. Packet loss isn't a huge deal for gaming as long as it's not sustained. A few packets here and there lost is not going to be noticeable. Personally, I've noticed no problems thus far. I'm not the gamer in the house, but there have been no complaints. My work meetings have been flawless as well.

Thanks for all the awesome detail. COD: Warzone seems to be very unforgiving when it comes to packet loss and delay. I am thinking it has a high frequency of pings with a large packet size. My loss on this WISP is almost always there but generally under a .5 percent. (They are blaming the issue on something 'outside of their network'.. which would be Comcast Xfinity, who no one I know with it has loss issues. IOW, it will never get fixed)

Game is unplayable at that small loss. I'm still going to give Starlink a try, if it ever gets here. Not much choice out here in BFE, and fiber broadband will never get here because of exclusivity nonsense.

Hopefully Starlink will improve as they grow the infrastructure. It is already a lot better than earlier results I could find.

Yeah, I think you simply won't know for sure until you try it. They have a 30 day money back thingy so if it's a bust you're only out a little time.

I have tried COD and Battlefield 2042 without any major issues.  Every now and then you might notice a hint of stuttering or lag for a few seconds and then good to go for another 15-30 minutes.

Only one time ever has it kicked me out of a game, which is significantly better than my cellular OTR mobile, Verizon Hotspot, and two phone hot spots.

We received our Starlink dish last Thursday and it has exceeded all expectations. Speeds hover around 75-100 mbps. The last few years we've used an AT&T hotspot and got around .5 mbps. Before that, we tried HughesNet and ViaSat and both were abysmal.

I have it sitting in my yard currently. I will probably mount it on a pole and bury the cable in the next few weeks.

As for the weather part.

Heavy Snow, heavy rain or really dense fog has knocked out Starlink in the 5 months that I have had it.
