Looks like it is going to be a slow "Rick goes to the Kingdom" episode.

We're probably going to have a few weeks of slow episodes - they have to do "what happened to Heath" & "Negan trying to find Darryl" too.

I'm not expecting this episode to be very big, mostly because of where they are in the story right now. There is nothing going on that is very "set piece"-ish... it is all still maneuvering and planning.

The big set piece episodes will probably be four or five episodes in from now, culminating to hopefully a large, expensive season finale.

I think this is supported by the relatively minor advertising they are doing for this mid season premiere. If this upcoming episode was anything spectacular (as in expensive) they'd be advertising it like mad to draw more viewers.

My expectation is that this mid season premiere will be weak from a ratings standpoint and the season will continue to be limp up until things start to get froggy. Then if the show has earned back enough good graces it will start to rise in the ratings again.
