They aren't all as pretty, but they're all filled out with no wrinkles. A few went back into the melt when I was starting out, but not that many.
I was rushing to beat the dark (I cast outside) and the mold was getting too hot. The last few had some light frosting but I quit before it got too bad.
I rarely cast with just one mold, though. I usually alternate between multiple molds so I don't have the overheating problem.

I use cheap (6-pack) butane lighters. It seems to work just as well and it's a lot easier than matches.
The refillable jet flame lighters will not work, they burn too clean. It has to be the old-school BIC type.

I try not to over-smoke the molds, if you can see some black soot around the edges, it's good. A little tinge is better than black all over.
As long you pass the flame evenly over the cavity it will be plenty.

ETA: I just bought 100 pieces of new .44 Magnum brass on GunBroker.
I only had about 70 cases, enough to play around with, loading 20-30 rounds at a time.
But not enough to justify buying a mold.

So I bought a mold to justify buying more brass.

Good morning Sa/oU friends!!!

Shaping up to be a beautiful day here, sunny & 45 degrees. This morning lots of problems with black ice & multiple accidents as a result.  Was eerily beautiful as the sun was trying to poke through all the fog.

Thanks for asking, no.  It's not over by a long shot. However, next time you might be getting a field grade makeover with random flying objects our the occasional 'bad idea", I'll hold your beer and look on.   What are  friends for?

Those were hand-picked and carefully cleaned for this photo.

While I try to make them all look the best I can, I can't guarantee every one in a batch will be this pretty.

Grab some lead and get in the shed. I could have a very enjoyable day casting.

I started with fishing lures. Spinner baits as a kid, then bullets later. Using a old fashion blow torch.

Add fuel, pump it up and light it. When cast bullets were cheap it wasn't worth the time.

I might still need to pick up a custom bullet mould. Just because no one is offering it any more.

Go get them Terry.

Yep, Waycross.

Spend a lot of time out at the Okefenokee Swamp Park, got friends working out there. Been in and around there most of my life, I know many of the gators personally.

Also shoot at Dixon Memorial WMA range, bordering the swamp.

Checking back in to see if the beers still cold. Yep, keeping it out in the snow pile I see. Works.
Got side tracked for a bit but it's always nice to come back here.

Was out at Camp Perry last Saturday for their Open. My cuz from Va brought his daughter and some other out for the air rifle comp.
She did OK but has only been shooting for two years. Some of the competition was military marksmen units and universities.
One girl in their group broke at least three shooting records there.
The 60 shot "endurance" looked like a workout! I can't imagine hefting a 12# single shot rifle that long!
And I can't imagine paying four freaking thousand dollars for an AIR RIFLE! That's FOUR Colt ARs!
Expensive hobby . . .

Been enjoying the "heat wave" lately. Pretty bad when above 15F feels good.
Spent one night till 2 babysitting the furnace because it wouldn't relight when the wind blew back down the exhaust. Pulled the plenum blower and oiled the bushings as best I could (couldn't get it apart, broke an Allen wrench) and that helped a little. Motors going to need to be replaced soon. Proprietary of course.

Still on the temp list but the boss has asked if I liked it there so here's hoping.  Not the greatest place to work but it's employment.
I work on special jobs cuz I'm speshul

To all new members this year welcome aboard! To all old members (that's us old farts), just happy to be here.
MissB, lovely as always. Keep the critters warm. Nice pig sticker BTW.

Gotta think on what to make out of my ATF paperweight . . .

Terry, what is a handgonne?  Hope Kalley warms up to you & spends nights in the house soon away from harm.

Have a great day Sa/oU friends!!!

Hugs from here, send some back as well; subzero temps plus 6-8 inches of snow on the way.

ETA: Chili (with beans) sounds comforting for dinner tonight.
