All other bears are omnivores, except this one. The polar bear only eats meat. If it comes after you it can outrun and out swim you.

Can it outrun these?

I saw that bear around the same time frame and you are correct, it was huge!  I was also impressed with the size of the stuffed Wolf and Moose nearby that bear.

If you made it to the Elmendorf Base Hospital you got to see the giant Alaskan King Crab they had mounted on the wall in the lobby.

I went through Anchorage on my way to Korea back in the early '80s. There was a stuffed one in the airport.  Unbelievably huge.

When our battalion deployed to Okinawa in 1984, I looked at that bear for hours.   He was massive and tall.    We were stuck in the terminal for like 4hrs in the early AM...must have been November or so.

Apparently the polar bears will and do kill those dogs.

They're bears.
Yeah. I would not be letting those fucking things near my dogs.

My girlfriend's from Winnipeg. We go up there a few times a year.

There's a train up to Churchill, where you can see beluga whales and polar bears. But the train takes two fucking days each way and averages 20-25 miles per hour, which is a hell of a commitment.

Last time I was in Winnipeg, I found out they have one-day trips, where you fly up in a puddle hopper, look around at some bears, and fly home the same night. It's not cheap, but I'm awfully tempted.

Probably clone stamped out some poop or other distractions in photoshop

Or possibly jpg artifacting if the image has been re-saved numerous times or uploaded to anything meta related and subjected to their horrible compression scheme (FB, IG).

One guy has one, goes swimming in the pool with it.

How the hell you feed a bear? Dog or cat food? Go broke feeding the thing.

That’s wicked cool.

Train seems like a good way to see the changes in scenery on the way up there.

Does the train serve decent food/beverages at least?

It's ViaRail, which is the Canadian version of Amtrak. So, probably not.

I’m sure there’s some dickhead in northern FL who is trying to figure out how to get one for his roadside zoo.
