Putin was betting on the invasion of Ukraine being over by now. Whoops. It looks like you're putting Russia and China on relatively similar geopolitical playing fields and they absolutely are not. Russia has a GDP that's roughly the same as that of Texas. They aren't anywhere close to the threat China poses. I understand the concern over Russia invading Ukraine. I also believe that with the overwhelming tentacles China has successfully leveraged against the United States, in innumerable ways, there is simply no rational comparison between the CCP and Russia, they aren't anywhere close to one another in respect to American national security. China's interests are far from relegated to the Pacific region. Their "long march" is 100% global. The main obstacle is America and as such they have devoted time, resources, people and money to bringing down America in ways Russia couldn't begin to dream of. In the grand scheme of things, the consequences of Russia invading Ukraine don't even move the needle when compared to China and certainly not in respect to American interests and national security. They aren't remotely close. This isn't to say Ukraine should be ignored, we can walk and chew gum at the same time.
