Recently watched it, with my kids, they weren't freaked out, at all. The special effects have not held up well. Plus, they have seen Stranger Things.

I saw it one Halloween at the Fox theater in Atlanta on their 70' wide screen. I was awesome.

This movie was made to fuck with little kids. Was supposed to be released with R rating but got thru with a PG, so parents let kids watch.
As expected for Pedowood.

There's a theory about how O'Rourke got her bowels "obstructed" on the set of Rocky Road and died from toxic shock. But this is a Poltergeist thread.

Does it affect the veracity of the source that the show on which this supposedly occurred(Rocky Road), and the date the last episode aired(March 18,1987) was almost a year before Heather O'Rourke passed away?

The link posted suggests she was without any history of health concerns before her death, and I distinctly remember her being hospitalized at least several months before her death for one condition or another.  The article implies she performed on this show, was abused during the course of her time of performance, and then nearly immediately suffers her sudden onset of illness and death.  That's not the timeline at all, if anyone were to care to look closer.

I'm not saying there isn't any sinister background behind her death, but this site doesn't have it locked down by any stretch.

Interesting fact: Dominique Dunne was the sister of Griffey Dunne of American Werewolf and After Hours.

Sounds more like it was "inspired" (basically they thought there was a poltergeist and the rest of the movie was made up).

This incident in Texas seems more aligned with what occurred in the movie.

You're probably right. I didn't spend a lot of time researching it. Thus "theory". That article is not the first time I'd read where it was suggested.

This movie scared the fuck out of me.

My mother convinced me that boy-eating trees were real, and that we had one in the woods behind our house.

This was how she kept me out of the woods when I was young.
