It's been a long time but I finally have something to show off. Kids have taken all my woodworking time for the last few years but I wanted to make time to build this card box for my awesome sister in law and her soon to be husband for their wedding next weekend. Norfolk Island pine project. Turned wet. Dried in microwave twice after turning. Put two coats of walnut oil to try and keep it from cracking. Hope to final sand in a week or so. Birch top. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Walnut live edge. In my constant quest to go thinner. 7 long 5 wide and a tick over 3 high. Down to a bit under 1/8 thick. Two coats of shellac with final finish to be determined. Attached File Attached File |

In honor of a new baby in the wife's family I made this special project. Welcome baby Amelia! Body is made from maple and walnut. The center stripe is purple heart. Unknown crotch wood. Grabbed it off the ground. Was told it was walnut when I picked it up? Any guesses? Has everything. bark, full through crack, Hole thru side, knots and three piths! The line on the rear inside is the cracked, punky spot. Beautiful colors inside that my phone wouldn't capture. 1 coat of walnut oil so far. 8 inch round X 5 high. Attached File |
