With the demise of the small domestic meth lab due to the cartels perfecting processing operations and economies of scale, why is the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005 still on the books?  No one is smurfing bronkaid to make meth anymore;  thanks to the mexicans the drug is  cheaper than it's ever been and available in higher purity than all but the most dedicated basement lab would ever be able to provide.

Attachment Attached File

The stupid law didn’t do squat anyway; you can see that in Missouri, lab busts went up after the passage of the law and never came back down until the cartels dominated the scene.

So, honest question:  Why is a law that never functioned to combat the problem for which it was created, and whose sole reason for existence is now gone, still on the books?

At least we can get some work out them before they die.

I bet the number is astronomical.

Congress should be forced to do a complete audit of every law on the books before they can make any more new laws.

They should be forced to delete five obsolete laws for every new law they want to pass.

Because pseudoephedrine is cheap and effective, and it's timely use can prevent minor problems from escalation into major health issues.

Can't have cheap effective over the counter medicine, can we?

Seriously, when my allergies are bad, which is thankfully rare these days, the real Sudafed is pretty much the only thing that keeps me away from bronchitis.

That bronkaid stuff works really good on asthma in a pinch.. kinda the only thing that works over the counter... pretty handy.

Our government sucks dick... just snatch that away from people and disappear real pain medication for everyone, all in the name helping dopers..

Great idea assholes, the dopers are living in misery so you will too!

@llanero

That's exactly why I buy Primatene, for the ECA stack.  It's awesome.

If not for banning things what would the FUCKSTICKS in GOVT have to do?

Their ony job is to destroy and punish.

I always keep a box on hand.  I used to get sinus infections once a year but knowing how to treat a bad cold or allergies and blocked sinuses before an infection starts has prevented them for many years now.  Usually I only need to take them one or two days so I can get saline mist up there and I’m good.  Get over colds a lot quicker too.

It is but it’s not the same medicine and it doesn’t do anything, it’s phenylephrine not pseudoephedrine.  You have to ask for the real stuff and they scan your drivers license.

The government is very good at spending money on solving problems that may or may not exist. The government almost never spends any money on seeing if anything they've done has actually made a difference.

I got codeine cough syrup once in my 20s when I had a bad cold. It was freaking magic.

My dad said back in the day you could just ask the pharmacist for it. That makes sense to me, discretion keeps the licensed guy from giving you 87 gallons of codeine, regular people can get effective cough syrup. The addicts would find a way around it as they always do

Another absurd result of this absurd law: selling phenylphrine to do something that it literally does not do.

I'm under the impression that a good reaction yields around 80%. Calculate the amount of pseudo in each pill x the number of pills and you'll have an answer.

Stupid pick. Take the fentanyl every time. People on blues just keel over and nod off. Meth melts the brain, and you wind up with all sorts of craziness. Zombie attacks, fucking animals, setting things on fire, and generally being missionaries for the Chaos Gods from the Warp. Waaaay more methheads wind up needing shootin' during their antics than fentanyl addicts ever get up to.

Having managed restaurants in the past,  I can say that methheads are among the  group of workers i would never hire.  I would do the job myself or close the doors before having to hire a methhead. Just too violent and  unpredictable (except for the fact that they will, without fail, 100% of the time, every time, no exceptions, end up fucking you and the enterprise over).

For those who don't know, phenylephrine (the 'decongestant' in any cold remedy you do NOT need to show ID for at the pharmacy counter) is the active ingredient in hemorrhoid ointment and multiple studies have shown it is completely useless as a nasal decongestant.  Half the studies show it is no better than a placebo, and the other half show it is WORSE than a placebo!
