View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Funny but letting him go means getting him out of that snare. You going to risk getting bit to save a trash panda? 5 gallon bucket works very well when releasing incidental catches… Blankets are ok, but buckets work the best. That raccoon must have seen a lot of death. How does it get to that point? Maybe saw something at a young age that never left it's little brain.

I didn't think of them as being a pest, in that case, I'd have popped him too, admittedly I don't hunt, I'd like to though.

I put cages on my feeders to keep the coons out. I’ve had the fuckers empty a feeder full of corn overnight several times.

I'd get a can or spray paint to give it a little mark then let it go. If it is caught again, bye.

When we lived in west TX one of our neighbors was a very old lady. She told us about having problems with the raccoons getting in her chicken coop at night. One night she heard the chickens raising cain and grabbed her shotgun and lantern and went out to the coop. She said she opened the door and there was a raccoon inside. She raised the lantern up higher and braced the shotgun with one hand/arm to take the shot and the raccoon turned to look at her and then put it's hands over it's eyes. She said she couldn't pull the trigger and was waiting for it to drop it's hands. She got tired, lowered the shot gun and the raccoon lowered it's hands. She raised the shotgun up again and the raccoon covered it's eyes with it's hands again.
She said she shut the door to the coop and went next door to get her neighbor to come over and kill it. He opened the door, put the flashlight on the raccoon and raised up his gun and the raccoon once again covered it's eyes. She said he turned around to her and said he'd never seen anything like that before. The raccoon lowered it's hands as he turned away but raised them again as he turned back towards it and raised the gun up. He killed the raccoon anyway and she carried it out to the property line and tossed it into the brush. It would be tough to kill something that seemed smart enough to know it was about to meet it's end. |

Fox get kinda bitey too, but you know how far they can stretch, so you just gotta time it right. One of the old guys I get help from has two poles with a net between them, making a basket about 2 feet square. He opens the poles, puts the net in the air over the animal, then steps on the poles to trap it. Works pretty well. Another guy uses a long handled fishing net. |

Quoted: I love raccoons Would never kill one View Quote I love them too, I have raised many orphans up and released them around my place. But life in the country is not as happy and easy as citiots like to believe. Sometimes, certain animals become pests, and when they do, they have to be dealt with. Sometimes, animals, domestic and wild, get sick and you have to put them down. Nothing hurts more than shooting a 5 day old Holstein calf with a broken leg, that you pulled from its mama and bottle fed, but that’s life, and sometimes it sucks… |

At first I thought, I'd let him go, that was super smart. Then I thought about it. I would euthanize that dirt ball with a vengeance. Racoons are destructive enough and I don't think humans can let ones that smart live. They'll take over the world.

The amount of damage coons do to our corn is why they are a 'shoot on sight' critter. They'll climb up a cornstalk, ride it to the ground, take a bite or two out of the corn, and move on to the next to do it all over again. Fuck em. |
