Crown Vic, Ford ranger, snowy Winters.

My first vehicle was a Grand Marquis, winter wasn't that fun since there were no empty parking lots and if I got off the road it was going to be a long wait. I do recall 1 time on ice I looked like a rally car driver though

Then I got my truck and it'll be 4x4s from here on out.
And I do mean real 4x4s with locking hubs and limited slip, not AWD.

Probably 40% of my 4wd usage is in winter because the road into the farm is so rough that you can't build speed to climb the hills.

Growing up all the roads were gravel and everything I had was rear drive.

It was a blast

You do realize that there are still hundreds of thousands of RWD cars and trucks being sold in the U.S. every year, right?

This.
It's not some skill that only wizards possess.
Anyone (even old guys) with a pickup knows how to do it.

Back in the late 90s, I had a 4cyl Tacoma, so RWD only. There was an intersection I had to turn left through in the morning on the way to work.. when it rained, that shit was slick.

Sometimes I'd be going through that turn and the back end would slip, I'd just countersteer and point down the road and catch it.

This might take awhile so the fetuses can google the term.

Growing up driving on Ice and snow and driving gravel roads every day of my life it becomes natural.  I have had my drivers license for 52 years now.  I also own two rear wheel drive vehicles.  I consider front wheel drive a passing fad that I don't want any part of.

Corvair. Empty church parking lot. Snowy evening. Learned more in 45 minutes than most folks learn in a lifetime.

I have never owned a front wheel drive vehicle.

Doable on FWD, too, but it just takes a little more work.

Def doable, kids learned on FWD. Kinda odd until you see the setup.

They got actual training tho. I got a domineering old man

Grew up in eastern Nebraska with loose gravels roads all summer and snow and ice all winter. Drove 60's and 70's cars with 78 series tires.
counter steering was just driving.

I've run RWD cars and pickups through many Maine winters. Didn't so much mind the "excitement" when I was younger. These days, if it's not 4WD, its not going to take up space in my driveway--too old for that crap.

With only a single exception, every vehicle I’ve ever owned was RWD.

Yes. I used to do it for fun, so it when it was by surprise it wasn't a big deal. Most of the vehicles I've owned were RWD, but I also had some 4x4s and one AWD.

Of course you just turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction and lean!

Been driving since 1975.  All either rear wheel drive or 4WD.

Recently got a 435iX but have never had it in the snow, nor had it go sideways in the rain.

Drove in a lot of snow when I lived in WV and still get into a few times each winter while going home for a visit.

Getting the back end aligned with the front end either comes to you and you do it without thinking about it, or you end up in the ditch or a head on collision with another car/truck.  Tires, torque and gear control can make or break you if you're not real careful (or lucky, till you get to the point where you just do it without thinking about it.)

Lots and lots of miles in Crown Vics, Astro vans, and a 1990s Impala ... Yes.

Currently have a RWD van, and I am VERY impressed with it's stability control system.  Every corner is slippery and icy all winter long in the UP.  The system prevents and corrects oversteer exceptionally well taking off with a turn at a stop sign.
