Yup, tax time and hood holidays...

My now exwife worked at one of their locations in N. St. Louis County (Florissant or St. Charles Rock Rd I think).
I can't tell you how many times she'd work a table of 8-12 and they have a bill north of 250.00 and either stiff her on the tip or the whole check.

I would often go there near closing time, go in and sit at a table and wait for her to get off the clock, then escort her and a few of the other ladies out to their cars. The managers and others loved me, called me their security guy and would try and bring me free Cheddar Bay biscuits, salads and other stuff for waiting for them.  I never took anything, felt that was wrong.

Damn near every time there would be a few argument or a straight up, full on fist fight or someone making a huge scene trying to get some or all their meal comped...

God I hated that place and the usual clientele..

It was so strange, its like "The Lobsta" brought out and enhanced the Ghetto in the usual suspects.
I mean take the exact same folks and put them in an Applebees or some other restaurant and they were fine.  In Red Lobster, Its Ghetto Gutter and Gangsta...

And endless Cheddar Bay biscuits

That’s the official meal of Arfcom.   …contains all the major food groups:    Flour, Fat, Salt, Sugar and Cheese.

Hell,    I’ve even seen people post their own recipes.

Imagine having a business where your only customers are ghetto mamas and fat lonely basement dwellers.     Bankruptcy is a kindness under those circumstances.

The few in our area are like this. I can only imagine the type of clientele they have now doesn't help things.

- churches chicken
- red lobster
- Popeyes

All of the parking lots looks the same. Chargers, challengers, 300s, Altimas and impalas.

If these restaurants really wanted to make money they should offer check cashing services, title loans and sell rims.

Ate there once a friend wanted to go. I have a personal requirement, if I can't drive to the ocean in an hour......... no seafood.  We were 250 miles away from water.

Food at Red Lobster was horrible, overpriced and cooked into shoe leather. That was 40 years ago. Never been back.

I've eaten at the red lobster in Lynnwood three times in twenty five years and all three times the food was horrible.
The staff was incredibly rude, the food was greasy, they ran out of one of their advertised main entree then offered a sub par alternative and the fish and lobster tasted like a nasty dirty funky fish tank.
On two of my visits there I got food poisoning vomiting and diarrhea.
I hope they go out of business.
For seafood I go to Ivar's in Everett at the Marina, or the fisherman's down in Seattle.

The nearest one to me is in Killeen. It's dirty and the clientele are either the vibrant kind or Yankee transplants here on permanent duty at Hood.

Some of their business model has to be gift card based .   Last time I was in one people in groups of 2 or 4 would order full course w/ alcohol and then the bill   shows up and it's wtf  , what's this ?

Then they have to put in $50 to $100 bucks over the gift card amount after questioning the waitress about the bill and maybe shorting the tip .   Math is hard , those GC 's get them in the door just like coupons used to .

In my younger days, I dated a lot of waitresses. What I know of it, having never worked in food service myself, is from their observations of tipping patterns. According to my super-scientific research, the groups that were the worst tippers are/were, in order:

1) The demographic that shall not be referred to or even alluded to in any negative fashion
2) The after-church lunch crowd

Because the head of their marketing department is an oxygen thief who failed to do basic target demographic and market research. Kinda like Republicans going after abortion rights in purple states.

Grandview MO had an Applebees that was that way 15-20 years ago.  The same people, over and over again, would come in, eat 90% of their food, complain, and get it comp'd because it was "company policy".   I would grab a riblet/ chicken fingers basket and a beer when I dragged into town late, and noticed patterns, which the bartender opened up about.  Said they kept firing managers, but the managers were screwed by the "company policy" so their hands were tied.

Chapter 11 is a reorganization bankruptcy. It allows the company to clean up its finical books and reorganize their debts. Most of Red Lobster’s restaurants are dated with designs and themes going back to the 1970’s and do not reflect current market trends. Getting out from underneath them is not a bad deal. The number of stores will decrease by cutting the dead weight.

One thing they could do to improve the dining experience would be to have the local cops run everyone who walks through the doors for wants and warrants.

Same here. Not very vibrant. People around here know how to act in public for now at least. They keep building housing for more and more imports though so who knows how long civility will last?

SWMBO is a big seafood fan and she says it'll work occasionally. NO seafood for me so I usually get the burger with BP.

Red Lobster was where we got taken for birthdays growing up.

I hadn't been in one for years until around 2015/6 went to one in Ft. Worth

The crowd was a mix of Walmart and World Star Hiphop.

My woman’s grandparents like doing family dinners there so I eat there a few times a year.

When I was a kid you’d be waiting for a table any night of the week. Now it’s a ghost town even on the weekends. It’s kind of surprising because the food isn’t terrible. I’d much rather eat there than Crapplebee’s, Olive Garden, or most of the other franchise mostly microwaved restaurants.
View Quote

My family would do little mini reunion lunches there every 6 months or so. It was decent for the price but they seemed like the last chain to innovate or renovate their offerings (Olive Garden fell into the same trap). Same went with the decor. All early 90s style furniture and lighting. Not really conducive for an upscale atmosphere. A Time Machine to its heyday but they never adapted. Add the stagnation to rising food prices and covid this is all kind of expected.
