Dixon Mounds Illinois. On the Illinois River. Quite a civilization from at least 1000 years ago. At one time the graves had been excavated and they could be viewed from a parapet built around the exposed grave site. Fascinating, and quite a civilization albeit primitive. The graves were covered in the 90s I believe, as a kid I visited it frequently. Pictures of the opened graves can be seen on google image. These people were not nomadic, and lived in the same spot for generations. The museum is still open. |

So if someone has an idea in location A the end results are felt in N, far enough away to make further investigation of the technique worthwhile. Additionally, empires like the Romans and Persians force a sort of technical homogeneity. Everyone gets pulled up all at once by the conquering culture. |
