I wish him well on this. It's time that the media and some celebrities are reeled in a bit.  However, if this goes too far, what will it do to the major social media platforms?

I suspect that it would be much harder to make a case against a platform that was used by someone to make a statement, than it is to just sue the person that made the statement.

The platform called him a mass murderer, and canceled any speech that provided facts to the contrary.

Hit the big names with deep pockets (AND WIN), and the smaller names with pockets that aren't as deep will likely learn from what they see happening to others.

Does sound like Rittenhouse is setting something up long term, to keep suing people that think their celebrity status gives them some sort of immunity to say whatever they want without repercussions, though.

If they can document it (in a way that the court will accept as evidence), then good for them.  I still think it will be more difficult than a case where an individual has run their mouth on video.

Look at what just happened in the Amber Turd defamation case. Sure, it was Virginia, but using your massive platform\power to defame or libel someone for nothing, based on no criminal conviction or evidence, is usually not going to work out well for you in a lawsuit.

ETA...beat
I think he got Nick Sandmann's lawyers that won I think $250 million off CNN from that case.  I see this one being EPIC comparatively.

Not beat....
I hope he ends up owning Facefuck and Lebron has to play for another 25 years to make up the legal payments.....and Xiden looses his free depends along with everything else.

Thing is, if Shit For Brains Depp hadn't sued her, then nobody would have noticed the alleged defamation.  And going by the "platform is responsible" theory, he should have sued the Washington ComPost instead of just her, but he probably figured trying to go after Bezos wouldn't be as easy.

Wut. She "wrote" - IE had the WP and ACLU write, that article about Depp.

That was big news at the time.

Yeah, the Atlantic, a left-wing rag has figured it out. He probably sued her out of personal spite and anger, but I know his lawyers are wondering about BezosPost money...

"More inclusive" means, as always, destroying history and excluding everything the Woke disagree with.

Va. University Targets R.E. Lee's Burial Grounds for Woke Makeover

(Dmytro "Henry" Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Washington and Lee University officials decided to make significant changes to push their woke agenda, launching a cultural snowflake storm to bury and blur history.

The administrators of the university have announced that they are planning to build a permanent wall this summer to separate the Robert E. Lee's chapel's main auditorium from a section of the building that features a statue of Lee, reported the College Fix. The statue is located directly behind the podium where students give speeches.

Last summer, the school officials got rid of George Washington and Lee, as well as plaques that were honoring the alumni of the institution and veterans from many wars, including the Civil War.

The official reason behind the changes was to make the campus environment more inclusive, and some students criticized the decision.

President of Students for Historical Preservation, junior Kamron Spivey has been opposing chapel changes since the last school year.

When the university accepted National Historic Landmark status for Lee Chapel in 1961, "they pledged to uphold the site and share its historical significance with those who visit it," he said.

Therefore, he pointed out that making changes to the chapel will be a "complete breach of that responsibility."

This shit will end when alumni start cutting off the money.  Wall off R.E. Lee?  OK, wall off my donation as well.

That is where DeSantis is a genius, he hits these people where it hurts:  their wallets.  Let your diverse graduates pick up the slack.

Sadly, this is about the best we can do these days.

well --- some of Depp's clients noticed.   He was unceremoniously dropped from the 2nd Harry Potter spin-off after having played the character in the first one.   That one lost gig cost him millions alone, and there were / are others.

In the 1980s, I took basic and advanced marksmanship classes at the indoor range under the bleachers on the west side of the university football stadium.  When my daughter became a student, I went looking to see if the range was still there.  They had converted it to a storage area.  The rifle team's trophies had also been removed from the display cases in the lobby of the University Center (had more trophies than any of the other teams, when I was there, and they augmented the display by scattering spent .22LR casings around their trophies).

Hopefully outright destroy them.  The world was a lot more social before "social media".  Giving every idiot with half a thought a platform to spew their idiocy worldwide has resulted in more damage to the generational growth of the world and it's future inhabitants than almost any other single invention in the history of the world.

I gave up on Rittenhouse when he had his AR15 destroyed. Virtue-signaling at it's finest. Clearly he is not the hero many think he is, much like Zimmerman.

He was trending on Twitter over the weekend after saying he was going to enroll at Texas A&M on a talk show or podcast. The college stated they have not received any enrollment papers from him. Was he talking about Blinn college or just talking out his ass?
