The demographic and economic situation for Russia in the mid to long term is pretty bleak. I also think that played a pretty big role in the Kremlin's decision to invade when it did: they essentially came to the conclusion that they had to act NOW. If they waited too long to solve the "Ukrainian Question," they ran the risk of never being able to do so due to demographic, economic, and political factors (I also think that Putin nearly losing his grip on Belarus in 2020 played a significantly undermentioned role).

Russia may come to the conclusion that UKRAINE is the hard but thin crust of EU/NATO. Based on the level of NATO and US support for Ukraine. Added benefit is that the Russian population, at least the bureaucracy, is on a war footing while NATO is obviously not taking it seriously.

Debates over what constitutes loss or victory can be had, and yes, Ukraine’s survival so far is a big win. But even if Russia halts advances and goes on the defensive, we lack the resources to reclaim territories to the 2022 borders, let alone the 1991 borders. This is due to many factors: delayed mobilization, insufficient aid, weak sanctions enforcement, a lack of political will in the West, poor military decisions, delayed aid due to de-escalation concerns, and the sheer reality of fighting a country with four times our population, with superior numbers in almost all domains and one of the largest military industries, supported by regimes like North Korea, which contribute more than some European countries with far larger GDPs.

Manpower shortages are another issue, but that's a separate discussion. Ukrainian leadership bears a good part of the responsibility for these problems. Still, if the West can’t supply the 14 brigades Zelensky requested, why discuss drafting hundreds of thousands more? We need to completely re-arm way more existing brigades. Who’s going to pay for them? Let’s be honest - there’s little enthusiasm in the U.S. or Europe to fund this.

If Russia retains its occupied territories, it will undermine one of Europe’s core security principles: that borders cannot be redrawn by invading force. In 2014, Russia violated this order, leading to the 2022 invasion. This time, it’s not just Ukraine that will have failed - it’s Ukraine, the U.S., and Western Europe’s failure to defeat Russia.

Some might cite Finland's Winter War, as an example of what Ukraine should have done, but that war lasted three months and ended with Finland ceding territory, paying reparations in the form of machinery, and renting a port to the Soviets. Ukraine's demographics today are also very different: the 18-25 age group is among the smallest, a reality across modern Europe.

Unless Ukraine and the West create a serious plan to radically increase aid to support mobilization - where Ukraine commits to mobilizing more people on the condition that they are properly armed and trained, and the West provides robust air defense to intercept missiles as decisively as the U.S. does for Israel - Ukraine will lose the war of attrition. This will force unfavorable peace, and mass migration from Ukraine to other countries, setting a dangerous precedent, and making it look like the West lost to Russia in the eyes of the world, especially among the enemies of the West

...

The worst-case scenario:

Ukraine and Russia freeze the current front line, turning the war into a low-intensity conflict. This forces Ukraine to maintain large forces along an extended "new border" with Russia. Socio-economic problems deepen, as Western aid is insufficient. Mass migration accelerates as people flee the possibility of another war. Political instability, weakening of the state, and a second Russian invasion

A very likely outcome. Depressing and shameful. The USA and NATO allowed this to happen.

Maybe Patton would say that but even Trump would not be so bold.

Best case Trump forces the US to pick a side, and help Ukraine to stop the Russian advances. The opportunity to help Ukraine regain their territory was blown by Xiden and gang in 2022 and '23.

Worst case, Trump says "not my circus, not my monkeys" and forces a very shitty deal on Ukraine with some security guarantees that may or may not prevent part II in 10 years.

Kamala would most likely continue to fuck Ukraine like Xiden.

Phantom dragons teeth on hardballs showing up down south on the road towards Crimea between the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. The mystery with the dragon's teeth in the occupied territories is gaining momentum. Over two days, instances of these contraptions being placed on roads used by Russian military vehicles have only increased, appearing not only in the Kursk region.

Dmitry Rogozin posted a photo stating 'this is the road to Crimea, the section between the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions,' 170 kilometers from the front line.

He also added: 'The red stripes that mark such concrete blocks at checkpoints, as you can see, are absent. The reflective sign warning of deadly danger is also missing.'

Russians have no idea who places the dragon's teeth: 'What is this? Who left it here? With what intentions?

Naturally, the vehicle is a write-off. The passengers sustained minor injuries only because the driver sharply reduced speed just before the impact.'

Earlier, channels reported dozens of people who died or were seriously injured by these devices.

Iranian Cyber Actors’ Brute Force and
Credential Access Activity Compromises
Critical Infrastructure Organizations

Summary

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the
National Security Agency (NSA), the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSE), the Australian
Federal Police (AFP), and Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ASD’s ACSC)
are releasing this joint Cybersecurity Advisory to warn network defenders of Iranian cyber actors’ use of
brute force and other techniques to compromise organizations across multiple critical infrastructure
sectors, including the healthcare and public health (HPH), government, information technology,
engineering, and energy sectors. The actors likely aim to obtain credentials and information describing the
victim’s network that can then be sold to enable access to cybercriminals.

Since October 2023, Iranian actors have used brute force, such as password spraying, and multi-factor
authentication (MFA) ‘push bombing’ to compromise user accounts and obtain access to organizations.
The actors frequently modified MFA registrations, enabling persistent access. The actors performed
discovery on the compromised networks to obtain additional credentials and identify other information that
could be used to gain additional points of access. The authoring agencies assess the Iranian actors sell
this information on cybercriminal forums to actors who may use the information to conduct additional
malicious activity.

Zelenskyy bought a Lambo with aid money

Ukraine is a fascist country.

Ukraine is the deep state's playground.

I can go on. Trump will fall for it as usual. Look what happened during covid-he fell for the entire "Current thing" scam and created immoral, unethical, and ineffective shots that harmed a generation of Americans and severely damaged trust in the elected officials.

Russia says Zelensky 'victory plan' is pushing NATO towards direct conflict with Moscow

Rutte on Wednesday said the 'victory plan' presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy on Wednesday was a good signal, but that he was not able to support it as a whole as things stand.

By REUTERS

OCTOBER 16, 2024 15:35
Updated: OCTOBER 16, 2024 17:53

Russia on Wednesday denounced a "victory plan" presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he was trying to push NATO into a direct conflict with Moscow.

In his speech, Zelensky called on his allies to take urgent steps to bolster Kyiv at a precarious moment in a bid to end the conflict with Russia next year.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters the plan Zelensky unveiled to his parliament would lead to disaster for the Ukrainian people.

"He is pushing NATO into direct conflict with our country," Zakharova said, adding that Zelensky could not rely on his Western partners.

"I can simply tell Zelensky, if he is not aware... The partners of the Kyiv regime have already demonstrated how they see Ukraine in the security architecture: they see Ukraine in a coffin and Ukrainian citizens in the grave as well."

Russia has long accused the West of exploiting Ukraine to wage a proxy war against Moscow. The United States and its NATO allies say they are helping Ukraine defend itself against an unjustified colonial-style land grab.

Zakharova recalled a warning by President Vladimir Putin last month that the West would be fighting Russia directly if it allowed Ukraine to strike deep inside Russia with Western-supplied long-range missiles.

Putin warned at the time that Moscow would be forced to take unspecified "appropriate measures" in such a scenario.

Zakharova said Zelensky therefore knew "perfectly well" what his appeals to NATO would lead to.

The Kremlin said earlier on Wednesday that it was too early to comment in detail on the Zelensky plan but that Kyiv needed to "sober up" and realize the futility of the policies it was pursuing.

NATO's Rutte aware of Ukraine 'victory plan,' discussing next steps

Rutte on Wednesday said the 'victory plan' presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy on Wednesday was a good signal, but that he was not able to support it as a whole as things stand.

"It is of course a strong signal from Zelenksy and his team that they designed this plan... That doesn't mean that I here can say I support the whole plan, that would be a bit difficult because there are many issues that we have to understand better," he said.

While reiterating a position that the process of making Ukraine a future NATO member - a key demand of President Volodymyr Zelensky - was "irreversible," Rutte said the victory plan included other elements and that he was discussing the full plan with members.

Zelensky said that an unconditional invite to join NATO was one of the points of his plan.

Rutte did not directly respond to Kyiv's demand for a formal invitation.

"NATO in Washington decided to make the path towards NATO membership for Ukraine (an) irreversible path," Rutte said. "We are in close contact with allies, with Ukraine, to see how we can take next steps, how to do that in a way which is also successful."

NATO allies have said Ukraine will join the alliance but also that Kyiv cannot join while at war and declined to put a timeline on membership.

"The victory plan, of course, we are very much debating with them and using every opportunity to take that one step by step further," Rutte said.

North Korea begins construction of large submarine, 'possibility of nuclear submarine' = South Korean military
Article List 2024.10.08 14:51

North Korea has been confirmed to be building a large submarine near Sinpo, South Hamgyong Province, where many submarine-related facilities are located, a South Korean military official said on the 8th.

South Korean military authorities are said to be analyzing relevant information, including the possibility that it may be a nuclear submarine.

The submarine is said to be larger than any North Korean submarine to date. A military source said, "We are currently in the early stages of construction, and we will be able to determine the exact displacement and other details as work progresses."

North Korean Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un (General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea) revealed plans to build a nuclear submarine in September last year, and the military has reportedly determined that the submarine under construction may be a nuclear submarine. Although it is determined that it does not yet have important equipment such as a nuclear reactor, the possibility that it is a nuclear submarine is being considered as it is larger than previous ones.

Kim Jong Un attended the launching ceremony for the first "tactical nuclear attack submarine" capable of conducting nuclear attacks from underwater in September last year and unveiled plans for the construction of the nuclear submarine.

Regarding North Korea's nuclear submarines, the Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, reported in January this year that Kim Jong-un attended a test launch of a submarine-launched cruise missile and inspected the construction of the nuclear submarines.

South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said at a National Assembly audit of the Ministry of National Defense on the 8th that he believes there is a very high possibility of North Korea sending regular troops to Russia as it continues its invasion of Ukraine, saying, "Because Russia and North Korea have signed a treaty that is akin to a military alliance, I believe the possibility of them doing so is extremely high."

He also said that reports of North Korean officers and soldiers being killed or injured in Ukraine were likely to be true.

Ukrainian media outlets, including the Kyiv Post, reported on the 4th (local time) that 20 people, including six North Korean military officers, were killed in a Ukrainian missile attack near Donetsk Oblast in the eastern part of the country, which is occupied by Russia. They also reported that at least three North Korean soldiers were injured. According to information on Russian social media, the North Korean military officers were observing a Russian military training exercise.

"The relationship between Russia and North Korea is becoming as close as a military alliance," Kim said. "North Korea is upgrading its nuclear and missile capabilities, seriously threatening the security order in the region, including the Korean Peninsula." He emphasized, "Our military will build a 'scientific and technologically powerful military' based on the nuclear-based ROK-U.S. alliance."

How Israel’s bulky pager fooled Hezbollah

"BEIRUT, Oct 16 (Reuters) - The batteries inside the weaponised pagers that arrived in Lebanon at the start of the year, part of an Israeli plot to decimate Hezbollah, had powerfully deceptive features and an Achilles' heel.

The agents who built the pagers designed a battery that concealed a small but potent charge of plastic explosive and a novel detonator that was invisible to X-ray, according to a Lebanese source with first-hand knowledge of the pagers, and teardown photos of the battery pack seen by Reuters.

To overcome the weakness - the absence of a plausible backstory for the bulky new product - they created fake online stores, pages and posts that could deceive Hezbollah due diligence, a Reuters review of web archives shows.

The stealthy design of the pager bomb and the battery’s carefully constructed cover story, both described here for the first time, shed light on the execution of a years-long operation which has struck unprecedented blows against Israel's Iran-backed Lebanese foe and pushed the Middle East closer to a regional war."
