 I’m a Ford guy through and through, but as a previous poster commented, that isn’t a stock 65 or 66 fastback Mustang. Plus I think it’s hard to argue against a car like the early 2nd gen Firebird with suspension tubing by Herb Adams with the WS6 package option checked somebody check me on that And a 455 ci engine in 1973 when everyone else was shrinking the engine displacement by 1972 |

Yeah, the Rent'A'Racer Hertz Mustangs were also not "stock". Thats the same as saying a Glock with a Zev slide is a "stock" Glock or like calling a Baldwin-Motion Corvette or Camaro stock. Which they are not. They were picked up from the factory, modified and sold ad approved dealerships. If it leaves the factory, modified, then sold, it is not a "stock" car. |

They are "high-performance" variants that started as Mustangs and received significant modifications by Carroll Shelby / Shelby American. Haggerty and the Peterson Museum have defined what a "stock" car is. "A stock Mustang is one that remains as it left the Ford factory". Mecum and Barret Jackson treat Shelby Mustangs as their own category for a reason. |
