My old reliable. Been dunked in saltwater more times than I can count. I carry it when fishing.

Around my small town, summer carry is the 3 in model 36.
Today, Mrs Taft and I are headed into the big city. Now it fills the back up role to my 12 round capacity G26.

They offer a couple other models and I'm hoping they expand their offerings. It's possible I got lucky but it seems really well made. $225. Cool. Always lookin for inexpensive backups or stuff for roadtrips. Things I wouldn't cry too much over if it was lost or stolen. Quoted: No idea. I couldn't even get my S&W rep to give me a hint about who spec'd these. It's also DAO, so you can't even cock the hammer if you pull the trigger to partially retract it. Buying the 37 and having Smith cut the hammer makes zero sense., but I guess it made sense to somebody. The hammer-mounted firing pin makes me think Eastern Europe, and their primers tend to be pretty tough. I just dig it because it's kinda funky, and it has pretty significant sentimental value for me now.  I like weird stuff as well. |

I've pocket carried this 642 five shifts a week for the last 18 years as my back up. I'm on about the 6th or 7th pocket holster. The anodizing can be scrapped off with a finger nail. For 6 years before the 642 I carried a Walther PPK. 4 years to go and the old girl will retire with me.
