I believe Elon said something along the lines of not digging your own grave on landing in an interview.

Boca is the R&D facility. My understanding is most launches are planned for SLC 39A

At least for the next few years, they are restricted to 5 launches annually.

ETA: Plus the above.

only dealing with 6 or fewer raptors launching from moon or mars not full 33 from booster.

also lunar starship is rendered with some engines higher on the vehicle to avoid debris.

What are the options?

Leaving it as it was yesterday won't work.

Can they put in a functional trench system and water deluge system with the vertical space that they have or will they need to elevate the OLM and possibly add sections to the launch tower?

That was seriously one of the most exciting things I've ever watched and for a few brief moments thought they might actually completely succeed!  They'll be back in short order.

Simple fix.  Pour new concrete and cover the entire area with a titanium sheet.
ETA on a serious note I don't know how they missed this with such a behemoth rocket.

Just call the closest concrete plant and buy their capacity for the next month.

yeah, it looks like they intended an early pitch just to get it offshore asap just in case of an early RUD.

I think this is why they were talking about offshore launch pads when SpaceX was trying to sell the idea of intercontinental commuter rockets.

I contend that launch pad debris is what condemned the launch, rendering 3 engines inop at the beginning and damaging several others to the point of cascading failures, including the hydraulic pumps that provide the steering.
The rocket was doomed as soon as the hold down clamps were released.

Get there itis is a thing and it's universal.

Back in ancient history I worked on a construction site rebuilding a water processing plant.

One of our tasks was to cut several 4' diameter holes in a 24" thick concrete wall.

To start the holes we used 20' long burners made of 2" copper tubing and burning oxygen/acetylene.

I imagine the slag created by those Raptors and being blown back into the rocket was a lot like that.

If it's going to take more than 6 months to build a survivable launch pad at Boca Chica, I can see them moving R&D launches to FL.

Obviously they will have to do something. We suspected it would get trashed.

Deluge and a trench are needed.

cause then you'd have to add a payload and a nosecone and not potentially be able to test the fullstack and they have plenty of ships and engines just laying around anyway, may as well get as much data and keep as many options to test open as possible.
