Not sure - but seems the FAA has a hard on for SpaceX because SpaceX is not using a goverment launch site for Starship.  That said, I don't think the Goverment wants them to use the Cape - their competition really does not want them to use the Cape.  All bets are off if Starship becomes operational - so the bribes are probably flowing on this one.

The FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation was created in 1984.

The irony doesn't escape me.

Yeah, I didn't think there would be much trouble in noticing it.

It needs to be turned over to the Space Force.  Get FAA out of anything to do with space.

Once the FAA 'gets into' something, getting them out of it is not an easy thing to do.

Such is the nature of bureaucracy. History illustrates that once it gets in it usually takes nothing less than a full on barbarian invasion burning everything to ashes to get rid of it.

We could probably use one of those. Not this piddly onesies, twosies, redsies, blusies nonsense going on right now that just entrenches the power of the existing tyrants.

That makes about as much sense as having the Navy regulate commercial boat traffic.  Give it to the Dept of Commerce or something.

For nearly two years, SpaceX has voiced its concerns with the FAA’s inability to keep pace with the commercial spaceflight industry. It is clear that the Agency lacks the resources to timely review licensing materials, but also focuses its limited resources on areas unrelated to public safety.

These distractions continue to directly threaten national priorities and undercut American industry's ability to innovate.

Good.  Let's see SpaceX go lawfare on them.

Election in November + Estimate that it will be late November before the FAA can approve the next launch = A democrat win will likely result in more delays.

And if the Dems get control of congress, you can kiss congressional oversight of the FAA goodbye.
