He’s worth it

Especially when you consider the two coaches that are right behind Kirby in salary.

Dabo Swinney: requires a QB that’ll be drafted in the top 12.

Lincoln Riley: has never even won a playoff game.

At one point I thought Dabo might be Sabans replacement. Now it looks like Dabo can't build a team. He is more of a single star player coach and when that player is gone the program falls apart.

He built his NC teams.  Losing really good coordinators and assistants is what hurt him.

They’re here to be the NFL’s minor league.  NCAA bought in, conferences bought in and now the universities have bought in.  The goose got squeezed too hard by too many wanting more golden eggs.

SMU too (and for no TV revenue), and they have better odds to win than either of the pac 12 additions

I don’t think he can restrict it.  It’s unfortunately not going to get him top recruits, either.  These 18 year old boys have been pumped up by espn that they deserve lots of money and they need it immediately.  ESPN loves the drama and story potential this is creating.

TCU is less than 18 months removed from the biggest blowout in the history of bowl games, which also happened to be the biggest game TCU has ever played, and TCU’s HC is firing strays at La Tech “not playing the same sport” as an SEC powerhouse.

I’m not sure what one has to do with the other.

Dykes is correct. He’a not denigrating LaTech, he’s pointing out a reality.

Of course, it has been this way for decades… the money is just (more) public now.

Of course it’s a reality.  The comment however resulted in La Tech catching strays for “not playing the same sport” as an SEC powerhouse and the comment was made by the coach of a team who was the victim of the grandest example of a team “not playing the same sport” as an SEC powerhouse and it happened less than 18 months ago.

With the exception of the blown coverage (that resulted in TCU scoring their only points of the game), Georgia played a pretty much perfect football game, but TCU also appeared woefully unprepared and collectively looked like a deer in the headlights.  I doubt La Tech would have done worse than a 58 point defeat.

All too true, but La Tech might have had to shut down their program for a few years to rebuild their literally broken roster after that.  They went 3-9 that year BTW.  TCU most likely made it to that game because they planned around Michigans sign stealing techniques, which worked well in the first half.

Really fun part of the TCU/LA Tech is that HCs are both former players and/or coaches under Leach.  Sonny Cumbie is La Tech HC

Shocking how much debt some of the schools have, especially for their on field results ...

Not True.

UGA blew out FSU 63-3 to beat their own record of UGA blowing out TCU 65-7.

It’s the second biggest blowout!

South Alabama is an outlier on that list since it’s a relatively new football program.

Extremely interested to see how the PAC-12 teams moving to the B1G handle their transition. Particularly how they hold up to the physicality over the course of the season.

It’s one thing to square up against a B1G team in a bowl game. It’s another to play a schedule that goes Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa when you’re used to a schedule that goes Arizona, Arizona State, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon State.

I have a personal theory but time will tell.

Tip of the cap to National Champion Michigan Wolverines. All this * talk is what it is. But the playoff ensured that they won it on the field & having watched all of the playoff games, there is no doubt that Michigan was the best team. They were a veteran, disciplined, physical, extremely well coached & deep squad. No * from this Buckeye.
