“TCU is less than 18 months removed from the biggest blowout in the history of bowl games*, which also happened to be the biggest game TCU has ever played, and TCU’s HC is firing strays at La Tech “not playing the same sport” as an SEC powerhouse.

*When the other team isn’t missing the majority of their starters.”

Better?

I’m not sure what one has to do with the other.

Dykes is correct. He’a not denigrating LaTech, he’s pointing out a reality.

Of course, it has been this way for decades… the money is just (more) public now.

Of course it’s a reality.  The comment however resulted in La Tech catching strays for “not playing the same sport” as an SEC powerhouse and the comment was made by the coach of a team who was the victim of the grandest example of a team “not playing the same sport” as an SEC powerhouse and it happened less than 18 months ago.

Wonder what the score woulda been if La Tech had played UGA in the championship game?

With the exception of the blown coverage (that resulted in TCU scoring their only points of the game), Georgia played a pretty much perfect football game, but TCU also appeared woefully unprepared and collectively looked like a deer in the headlights.  I doubt La Tech would have done worse than a 58 point defeat.

TCU looked like they were satisfied with getting there

The most intriguing, IMO, matchup of Week 1 will be in prime time.

They'll probably not get to play ever again.  Won't be surprised when any team has gambling scandals at this point

In before NCAA does nothing thus allowing it and kills the game just a little more.

NCAA is likely so shell shocked at this point they are probably afraid to make any kind of meaningful decisions.  They’re more concerned about getting another lawsuit and getting beat in court again.  NCAA imo is done.  I saw where Saban is concerned that lawsuits will break the NCAA, but that ship has sailed, imo.  College athletics requires oversight, but it requires oversight by an organization that’s reputation hasn’t been ruined.  NCAA for years avoided lawsuits because they knew this would happen, but whoever has been in charge of it for the last decade was more concerned about squeezing every penny they could out of college sports consequences be damned.  I’m speaking as a long time fan and not an expert on the subject, but I don’t see a path forward with what they have to work with and I’m not sure what the people who matter see as a victory for college athletics, but the game many of us grew up with ain’t there anymore and likely ain’t coming back.

Iowa and Iowa State already had major gambling scandal last year.  I'd be surprised if there wasn't players on every FBS team gambling under their mom/girlfriend/whatevers online account

Looks like TTU QB1 Morton is gonna need surgery on his shoulder.  They held him out most of spring, and he's been injured more than healthy over his career.  Hope we got a backup that can throw it to the right colored jersey

Think they were trying to let it heal up, but hearing were searching for a grad transfer QB as of now.  Morton is pretty amazing when healthy which isn't very often

Jaden Rashada-Florida NIL lawsuit: what to know, what comes next

Jaden Rashada, a former ESPN 300 quarterback recruit, sued the University of Florida and coach Billy Napier on Tuesday. Rashada is claiming he was defrauded of millions of dollars in name, image and likeness money.

The lawsuit, among other things, alleges that Napier promised the player's father a $1 million "partial payment" upon signing. Rashada never got the money, and the boosters never fulfilled the deal, the lawsuit states.

It is the latest in a long saga involving the player and the school. Now, Rashada is the first college athlete known to sue his coach or a booster due to a dispute over an NIL deal.
