What a neat gun. The MP5 is pretty small and the K is the answer for those wanting something even smaller.

While perhaps my least favorite out of the trilogy. There is absolutely no denying how neat all the accessories designed for it and the thought that went into them.

I had some time to myself on Sunday and decided its been awhile since I shot the old K. I busted it out along with some of the more unconventional setups to play with.

At room distances its amazing how fast and accurate you can be with the little K and no stock. Using a sling or the push pull method makes it work great. Pushing forward with a sling really mitigates recoil.

Step it back to 50+ and it starts getting pretty tough. However throw on a stock and your good to go.

It's obsolete for sure... but it's iconic and has made many bad guys dead.

I love the shoulder holster rig op!
We need videos if you whipping it out from under a sport coat.

Ya i used to love the MP5 especially because they were used in every movie and real world usage(child of the 80s-90s) but i feel like the nostalgia has carried it into the future. Running side by side with almost everything else it is meh but god damn is she sexy.

the series does nothing for me on semi, the 87 lb shitty trigger and ergos kill the system for me. Full auto would be another story.

much better options for a semi auto PCC for me.

Are they though?

HK offers the 'MP5K' with a 5.5 barrel option

At that point its just pulling two pins and changing some options around

Actually stand by it appears they finally addressed this in their description on their site

They however still show pics of the 5.5" option in the MP5K section.

Prefer shooting the full size but the K is a nice option to have.

Just need my backordered B&T stock to get here for the K so I can get both guns out of the 90s.

Other priorities atm and it's down the list a bit but I'll eventually get one.

I don't even have one but I've shot a FA MP5SD so I know the truth.

I'll get a FA one someday.

Haven't shot one, but the MPX is the only competitor in my opinion.

Saw one of those briefcases up for auction several years ago.  Dang, be prepared to give up your first born.

Regarding the K, well, you can't explain love.  It is what it is.

The PDW is meant to be used with a suppressor and stock giving you accurate fire out to 100 yards.  With suppressor, it optimally requires the 28 degree locking piece to cycle properly and reliably.

They are neat. Mine is a PTR though. Just as gud. (Pre-grip modifications, so foregrip looks weird since it doesn't fully fit on that rail.)

They may very well offer the K now with a threaded barrel in their modern incarnation.  However, the PDW configuration is spec'd with a stock for more accurate fire to increase the effective range.

The history and development of the MP5K and the subsequent PDW was narrated to us in the Gray Room by the late G3Kurz, with emphasis on the differences that make them unique.

Im just pointing out that the specific K is shown with a 5.5" tri lug barrel on HKs site as shown in the screen grab above. They previously even listed measurements with the 5.5" barrel in the K section along with the traditional flush barrel measurements. This is separate from the PDW that is offered also with the 5.5" and stock.

I've got an SP5 that I actually love.  As in it's my favorite gun.  However, I want a SP5K and if they would have had one at the time and it wasn't marked up a $1000K over the SP5, I would have probably gotten one instead.

Sure

Im not really sure what you are arguing here

In reality the difference, excluding the extended barrel as already discussed, is the addition of a stock, locking piece, and different rear sight

But they are the same gun otherwise. All this can be user swapped

Ive got a wolfman coming to scratch that itch a bit better

Excited to see what it can do in its short configuration which is just a tiny bit bigger than a 9k

So start with researching Paul Evers. He made a lot of leather gear for the Brits

Thats the origin of the rig

Luckily for us someone finally started making a copy. A pretty true copy at that when it comes down to the design. The only noteable differences are the makers marks which Im sure is done differently to avoid confusion with a authentic Evers rig

Shot one in FA in Germany and I prefer ones with stocks.

I use to think it was a pointless gun without a stock

I certainly understand the want of a stock. I even use mine with a stock here and there

But boy unconventional usage is the name of the game with the K

Just blazing fast and concealable to a point without it(the stock) and say a sling.

Anymore when I take it out its usually stockless with the stock nearby in case I change my mind.

I tried a bunch of 9mm guns, and sold them. Until I got to the mp5.

To me, the purpose of a 9mm is to be handy, and super low recoiling for quick follow up shots.

All my 9mm ar’s and other blowback 9mm’s moved more than my 5.56 guns.

Once I tried the mp5 I finally found what I was looking for.

There is a reason it’s the measuring stick that’s always used with 9mm subguns.

I wondered as well -- no wobble to it.

I like it because it's compact -- if you're carrying it's damn near invisible and out of the way -- if you need it, it's substantial enough.  I had a B&T side folder, and while SOLID and ergonomically comfortable, that bitch is BULKY when folded, and defeats the reason for having a small or low-profile sub.

It's pretty solid really. The cheek weld isn't the best, but no flex or wobble at all in mine. I was a bit skeptical at first but it was a great decision.

Or for people with family members who aren’t gunslingers.

Wife doesn’t like shooting ARs or handguns much, but PCCs are her jam.  First gun she enjoyed using was a .357 lever gun. An MP5 is fun to shoot and easy for her to use.

I’m glad she has a capable gun to defend herself with when I’m not around.

But its also easy for normies to use, which is why euro cops still issue it.

My wife is much more on the euro cop than the sas side of the shooting skill spectrum.

Its benefit as a non shooters gun is its biggest selling point in my mind.  I love shooting my two but would pick an AR over it everytime if I knew it was going to be used defensively.

I think reverse stretch with tri lug barrel looks the best as a SBR.

As an AOW the flush original barrel is classic.
