How much was that Woodford? Would like to try it, but saw it in a liquor store yesterday for $165. Nope.

I didn’t either. Then I tried Ocho and El Tesoro and now I do. Ocho Reposado is a great sipper and a welcome variety on the nights I pour a drink.

I might do that. Wish Costco had booze in Texas. Enjoy.

I’ve been trying some additive free tequilas lately and liking them a lot. Those are two of the brands I’ve had, very tasty, nice change from the whiskies.

Local Costco had this new release on the shelf this morning.  Bourbon Junkies coincidentally released their review of it today.  At a MSRP of ~$250.00 they gave it a solid D.  I passed on it.

Man, no idea. I live in a pretty small town and historically we've had good luck drawing. Wife and I will enter on the 20th, closes the 2nd and winners notified on the 14th.

Enjoying a gin and tonic with the Castle & Key Roots of Ruin gin that came with my Blanton’s 750ml bundle for $110 total. It is very good and I would buy this gin on its own.

I feel like I have all the bases covered with, ogd 114, rare breed and Wt101.
Sure I'll try others if offered, but with those 3, I consider the home bar well rounded concerning bourbon.

Rye, is another matter.

See if you can find an old overholt 114. As spicy as the OGD 114 is old overholt is creamy. It's too good for a screw cap. Hits way above its weight class. I also keep a rare breed rye open.

Old Overholt 114, or WT101 Rye should fit in well.

Just picked up another wt 101 1.75 and old forester 100 rye. And a veuve to keep the wife quiet.
I went with the old forester because of the higher rye in the mash bill.
One shot in and still not sure if rye is my bag. It certainly is different than what I'm used to.

Just sipping straight. This is my first strong rye I've ever had. And only a year or two into bourbon.
Primarily beer and some clear (vodka, some tequila) mixed drinks for many years prior

What do you like/not like?

Imo OF is a fairly well balanced, inexpensive entry level Rye, it doesn't really shine in any particular area.
Ryes can be super sharp/spicy to strangely sweet, like Bourbon,  flavor profiles are all over the place.

Im just not sure, its just quite a bit different than what I'm used to. I pretty sure my taste is just not so sophisticated to pick out individual things.
I'll try it over the next few days and see.
I don't hate it, it's just very different.

They have some nice whiskey and imo they will have some awesome whiskey in the future.

Full story to come. I definitely recommend visiting them if you get a chance.

That's a collection anyone would love to have.
I think I'm just too new with this.
I like wt and ogd bourbons, and I thought wt rye would be a shoe in. That's why I picked o.f. for something different.
I wanted a strong rye to try and expand my taste.

I am in the same club. I enjoy good whisky neat and drink my fair share socially, with my wife and with good friends. And, I don't want my whisky near water, ice or any mixer of any sort and have enjoyed it for years this way(I am not a huge fan of Manhattan's either). My go to's are Knob Creek, Buffalo, Blanton's, I also agree that the Wild Turkey Distillery over the years has stepped up their game and many others.
I am no connoisseur by any stretch like some may here but, I know what I like and I just can't wrap my taste buds around rye whisky.
Funny enough, I am not a huge fan of Bulliet Whisky, but their 12 yr Rye is excellent and oddly it's the only Rye I can enjoy.
