I've seen some videos of the U2 concert in the Sphere (no, I haven't been there yet) and can't help wonder...
1. U2 is terrific (EDIT: some love them many don't  ) but the venue is about music + video - is there really a point having a live band playing there (other than charging a lot more $$$ for tickets)? With its sound and video system wouldn't the venue be just as good with high-quality music playing vs a live band?2. If you can find another event where more people are holding up their friggin' phones taking video of their experience let me know. I have no desire to be around thousands of people holding their phones up throughout the event. I've been to laserium shows where they play recorded music and show laser/videos - the Sphere certainly is far beyond a laserium show but does a live band really make a difference? Over 2 billion to build it...... that is a LONG term investment that won't pay off.
It may be the only one in Vegas with good acoustics though. T-mobile arena is terrible for sound. MGM is mediocre. |

A Pink Floyd concert/laser show whatever would be epic . Damn , even my crowd detesting , airline flying hating , cheap ass would spend some money and go see that ! No Roger waters though , it would have to be David Gilmour . But , it will never happen

I'd love to go see it in person, not too keen on Las Vegas though
On the inside it's probably the most well lit concert you can go to with that huge led screen lit up. You could read a book under all that light. |

Bono sounds fucking awful in that concert - missing time cues and generally sounding like he just rolled out of bed with a Chernobyl-level hangover. This, I understand, is not exactly unusual in Las Vegas, but perhaps more could be expected when the nosebleed seats are $400 a pop. Also, the man is 63 years old - you might think he’d show up to work not sounding like he’d been up all night snorting blow. Oh, and don’t think I didn’t notice that the graphics are the same ones they used for their Zooropa tour thirty years ago - great way to make use of the cutting-edge 360 degree technology of that new arena, guys. Frankly, they phoned this in so hard that I’m surprised they didn’t hold the concert in an AT&T store instead.
Then new arena is impressive, though. I might go there someday to see a band that still gives a shit. |

Lame, there is a bar in Vegas called Dive Bar. They should have just showed up there and asked to play a set.

Phones are so fucking annoying. I get camera passes and bring pro gear to show sometimes. I am very cognizant and careful not to block anyone's view. Most of the shit that comes from these cell phone cameras will never be watched by anyone. Cost $2,300,000,000. Yes, that's 2.3 BILLION with a capacity of just around 18k. (TMobile for example was just 375 million and has a similar capacity for most events, which include 2 sports + concerts). There is no way they are ever going to recoop that money. They're trying to charge $100 for parking too lol. It's not like a hotel/casino that makes money every single day/night for years on end.
I can see it easily from my neighborhood about 10 miles away. It is BRIGHT. Cool idea, but I'm guessing it's going to last just a few years before bankruptcy unless they find some really creative ways to keep it booked full every single day of the year. |

They did a tiny desk concert this past winter on YouTube and he struggled on the 3 song set. Shame cause he used to have a great voice that could roll from a growl into falsetto seamlessly. I think he's about done. |
