You sleep good, eat good, exercise and need a nap by 11am. Legs feel so heavy you just don't want to get moving. I'd have better days where I didn't feel like I needed a nap, but only 3 or so days a week. I'm two weeks into TRT and feeling better all the time. Today my wife and I are running a 5K 'together'. She is at the starting line with her number at the 'Lamb Days' (we live in a big sheep ranching area) and I'm in Wisconsin going to run at the same time for 5K. I ran one on the 4th, interesting to see if the TRT and elevation change makes me faster here. Starting any minute now.... |

It depends on age, but the metric I saw placed the low end for a 40yo male at 375 or so. Younger guys should be even higher. Feeling awesome apparently is about the 800-1000 range, I'll get tested again in a few weeks and see how I'm doing. |

i hate to be the guy who says diet and lack of exercise, but that.
I'm a doctor, but not your doctor... this isn't medical advice: All this is my experience with myself, clients, and patients... No research backing this, just my synthesis of the available material and extrapolation based on my understanding of physiology, etc. ------- Lean towards fat for energy, supplement with 40-200g carbs (depends on activity, carb sensitivity, etc), get enough protein, and lift heavy weights... Testosterone levels usually normalize towards mean. Look, I spent 15-20 years eating like shit as a kid, not knowing any better- I needed to make weight for a fight? Bodybuilder diet Carbs/protein, low fat. Wild swings from 250 down to 199 or 205 back within a few weeks... I remember when I was 21 my testosterone level was 245... AT 21!!! Prior to fixing my shit with the help of a bunch of different coaches I was in the low 3's (~2 years ago) LDL in the 160's... Nutritionally fixed myself, Last I checked, I was in the mid 6's, LDL 120's (at 28) while my diet is being more fat predominate and lifting heavy/running/cycling/swimming. Same goes for many of my patients... I'm getting a whole battery of labs done here in a couple week after being on a No sugar/no grain diet (except for pizza once or twice)... and minimal exercise - swimming, upper body lifting (broken foot means no running or cycling or deadlift/squatting)... We'll see where my total, free Testosterone as well as lipids hangs out. Understand this: people who eat like shit for decades are going to have to retrain their body to be not fucked. It can take months-years to do this via proper nutrition/exercise... How many people you know have that kind of discipline?... or even that level of give-a-fuck? Even if they do, there's still the chance that they've fucked themselves indefinitely in some domains... |

1200 was a bit much. 315 or whatever I was, was "dying in slow motion" to quote a fellow member in the big T thread. Good luck telling my doctor that though. He gave me Prozac. |

They had to up my dose WAY up to get me to respond but after 3 months I was cruising into the 600s and by the 4.5 month mark I was >1000. Now they're backing down trying to land me around 900. I went from being pretty sedentary, just because I had no energy to do anything that wasn't required, to feeling like I'm 17 again and ready to lift, conquer, and rape the world. Lifts go up every time I lift. I don't seem to lose much, if any, from taking a week or two off. Fat is peeling off. Its a good thing. |

I got shit just wanting to get to between 800-1000. |

View Quote Interesting. I have changed the way I eat in the last few years to eating specifically for nutrition and it's made me healthier and happier. I've had repeated problems with myelitis in my spine and the common courses of steroids, antibiotics, etc were hell on earth and wrecked my health. The last time I had a problem I opted to forgo the drugs and ate very, very well, but more importantly for me was eating about twice as much as I previously had. I recovered more quickly and more completely than any of the other times. That was also when I realized I was getting about 1200-1500 calories a day and little of it was really what I'd call nutritious. Not just a bunch of crap, but not nearly as nutrient dense as what I eat now. Getting enough nutrition helped a lot, but after 2 years of it I'm still at 312 for my T levels. As you said, I may be fucked indefinitely for some things. I'm 20lbs heavier now, I eat nearly twice as many calories a day, I'm stronger, healthier and happier. With T replacement I am doing even better. Sigh. the obvious shit we have to learn the hard way. At least my kids all eat very well and get a lot more hard work and exercise than I ever did. I think they are happier than I was as a kid too. |

I wonder how many people get tested and find out their T levels are fine. I was tested years ago for a life insurance policy and they said my triglycerides levels were high. Since then I've started eating much healthier, started working out, have since lost 35 lbs. I've wondered if they have come down since then. |

Welp, I'm having a hard time hitting 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. I'm tracking everything on My Fitness Pal. Today I got close at 160g, but most days are 120-130. The weights on the 5x5 right now are still light, but when they do get heavy, what is the best course? Chicken until I start cluckin? Add a second protein shake? Jerky and boiled eggs at the top of every hour? All of the above and eat all of the things?
