I'd rather just stick with standard time. The system where the sun is basically overhead at noon, but I'm willing to compromise if it means we don't have to change our clocks twice a year.

CSB: My dad tells a story about when grandpa built a house the workers put a stake in the ground at one corner of the planned foundation and waited until noon to set the North-South line of the house so that it'd run "true" North and South.

Thanks for posting that.

We did a vacation in July a few years back on Isle Royale. I was telling people for months about how it was still light out super late into the evening and they wouldn't believe me.

Been saying this for years.

Honestly, I'd be happy with just picking standard or daylight savings time, but pick one and stick with it. If the one we're going to stick with is up for a vote, mine is DST.

I guess I'm the first. In summer it can get above 115°, with it still being over 100 past 10pm. You want the sun to go down as soon as possible so you can go out and do things. We do not have DST, which is awesome. In fact, I wish we would set the clocks back an hour in the summer.

My counter to that is the vast majority of the US isn't desert. Don't live in the desert, especially the SW desert, where it's generally inhospitable to human life,
