It is. I just hate to see lives ended and ruined if it's avoidable, I can't think of anything worse than claiming to support freedom and human rights and all the rest and not using the resources we have in that end. I know that's a simplistic and naive take. But I'm darkly cynical most of the time. Sometimes I need to dream. |

If Germany does find themselves in a war in the next 50 years they're going to be filling boxes quite rapidly (with their own soldiers). The German fighting spirit has been tempered greatly in the past 80 years. All of Europe talked a big game about arming back up, but they've done little but talk. They don't have the money or the will to 1) Re-arm, 2) Maintain their nanny state, 3) Reform their regulation-filled economy, 4) Take in every refugee in the world, 5) Make their taxes competitive, 6) Invest in technology, and 7) Make everything run on unicorn farts and smile energy. Europe will do what they do best, talk about their problems, then bureaucrats will reconvene at another 5 start resort hotel in a year to discuss this situation further. |

The idea was to replace the existing bureaucracy aligned with Russia to one aligned with the EU. All the bureaucratic jobs are filled with Ukrainians aligned with the EU (Western Ukes) and with former EU bureaucrats beholden to Soros for their high paying jobs associated with Ukraine or actually in Ukraine. Soros NGO played a major role in switching out the Uke government peeps, especially the ones that were hired for the corruption bureau (this was made possible by Poroshenko passing laws to make it so after their 'revolution'). |

For the most part they're being forced back to the front lines, or at least into rear areas. Even last year, one group made a protest video that they'd all been wounded repeatedly and were still sent back to the front to die rather than letting them go home. The Russian military doesn't want word leaking back home, even though it does anyway. There's a darkly hilarious video of two chmobiks with leg injuries slowly hobbling around an encampment with one crutch apiece (having to use tree branches for their second crutches). It's like with Nagants except with crutches -- only one each, if the first man dies then the second man gets a second crutch. Or, if you go way back, remember the drone-grenade-through-the-sunroof incident? One of the chmobiks in the car had a full-length cast on one leg. It's not like he'd been sent home after getting it put on, he was still in a forward area with fighting going on -- Ukraine hadn't developed long range quadcopters back then, they were still using Mavics with a 5km maximum range. So that guy was within three miles of the front lines. |
