This is one thing I miss about working in those shitholes.   I had a thread here back around '13 in pakistan showing an old engraved us revolver I found in one of the gun shops in Paki.   My last trip to Afghanistan a Glock 17 would fetch $3000 where an AK ranged from $300-$1500 depending on who you sent to go buy it.  My last trip to Iraq depending on the PSD crew leader I would get I would be able to go to the gun stores in Iraq.   There was always cool shit in them.

This cost me $1500 in Afghanistan.  I wish I wold have saw cut it and brought it home with me instead of flip it before I left.  I used to have some youtube vids with guns I would find around Kabul.   They are long gone at this point.

A extremely rare Colt M16A1 for sale in #Idlib. This was part of a contract for the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (Note the F.S.I. markings). A possible source of this rifle are Hezbollah fighters who took it to Syria which was then diverted to opposition forces.

StG-44
Sterlings
RPGs
all that new stuff (for us anyways).
etc.

You ain't shitting. I saw G19's and M9 going for over $3k and that was over 5 years ago.

People on here didn't believe me when I told them I had to buy my own weapons for the three contracts I did over there. I used Taurus on one contract and S&W SDs on the other two. I had to buy my own long guns, too.

Beretta M12 is about the only "common" tube SMG I haven't shot, its sort of on the bucket list.

I actually started a thread here, since I couldn't ID it from a news clip of the Tet offensive:

When I was deployed to Iraq many moons ago, one of the local militia guys had an Iranian G3 that he wanted to sell cause he could never get 7.62 NATO ammo for it. I regret every day not getting that thing and figuring out a way to get it back into the US.

Now you did it, I'm truly jelly af

@notso has the coolest PM-63 re chambered in .380.   Arguably the most fun gun I've shot as well.   I had no idea about them until notso let me shoot his.   Now I want to build a semi auto version from a parts kit

I'd LOVE to know the entire history of that M1 carbine.    Perhaps that gun has the best story to tell out of all the guns you've posted.

I'd have to spend some time in my books, and the carbine club to know for sure, but I'm not sure we ever gave carbines to Syria.   Outside of Israel I'm not sure we gave any other country carbines in the ME.    We gave them to Ethiopia IIrc though.    Either way, that carbine likely has an epic story.   It likely sits in a corner now because of .30 carbine.   Can't imagine much of that in the ME.

I'll be damn another one.....that carbine is clearly a rebuild.   It came home after WWII, but where it went from there is the real story to be told.

Has the potbelly stock, and even what appears to be the re arsenal mark.   Also has a flip safety over a push button.

The Syrian Army Paratroop BN was equipped with MP44's up until the 90's so it's not terribly uncommon to find them floating around the region.

Mmmm, that Type 1 AK

And here is what was captured- some really interesting and varied kit- Pakistan obviously doesn't bother to equip or protect FC properly.

Seen: 1x Type 80, 1x MG3, 2x G3, 1x T1 AK, 3x T56/AKM, 2x AMD-65, 1x "AKS-74U" (Seems to be a Daraa 7.62x39 copy), plenty of other kit.
