It’s been floating around the interwebz for a while now, unsure of the origin or backstory. As shelbysguns mentions, it’d require a custom plate attached to the top strap and then mounting the RDS to that plate. Lots of shops offer RDS mounting services for various single action revolver models on the market these days

Impressive work, seriously.

Is direct-mill for the 509T a possibility on the slide of a 70-series type 1911-A1 (i.e., no firing pin safety plunger)?

It’s a possibility. Worth asking around at least

Slide width might be the limiting factor, moreso than metal thickness above the firing pin and extractor bores.

Actually given the clamping attachment method of the 509T slide width would be less of a concern than a standard RMR or 507 bolt pattern. Check out CHPWS adapter plate to put a 509T on Staccato’s DUO mounting system:

https://chpws.com/product/staccato-duoholosun-509t-optics-adapter-plate

The actual interface between the plate and optic is thin enough that it should be possible to entirely contain within the width of a 1911 slide

Blegh The whole Yeet Cannon thing was fun while it lasted but the fact they think they’re still relevant beyond a little internet debacle is kind of just sad.

In ten years they’ll still be making references to “the infamous ‘Yeet Cannon’”. Like the 50 year old plumber who still squeezes his beer belly into a high school football jacket

Thanks for the compliments.

I think you could do it without the plate, the customer wanted back up sights or I would have tried it.  I'm game if you are...

They mass-produce guns that work, aren't inaccurate, that almost any American can afford, are extremely pro-2A and have a DGAF attitude and a sense of humor.

Of course they're relevant.

Hmm if I can find a decent enough 1911 I’ll probably take you up on that. Either direct 509T mount or 507K direct mill.

Some of you need a personal Jesus to guide your hand away from the dremel, mill, welder, or credit card. Just one apparently isn't enough to save the world from this level of debauchery.

I need to go hold my c&rs and cry in the corner.
