I did sell a bunch when it was making it initial run so I think these are more or less "free" shares.

OLN had a very great earnings report and share price has found momentum finally.  I've noticed a lot of great earnings reports have resulted in falling prices, ie BTI for example.  OLN is a great mid-term hold if looking to park money for CGains

ABBV hit a 52 week high today  4.4% dividend at today's price

The odds were 80/20 it was multiple, not singular, and the odds were right. Multiple in many cancer cases equated to metastasized, which is a very, very bad thing. This particular strain (multiple myeloma) is way down the aggressive scale, and as noted is both a) increasingly becoming "manageable", and b) very sensitive to corrective radiation and chemo. In other words, progress is being made, and some amazing molecular-level treatment is being studied while very "targeted" treatments are being applied.

I'm getting a body mold made tomorrow, and "tattoos" are coming that both hold you very firmly in place and allow them to use radiation almost like a scalpel...much less collateral damage. When I said to my young radiologist, "so they're not just back me up to the microwave with the door open and setting it for beef and broccoli?" he seriously cocked his head (he's a very serious young man) and studied me before actually laughing.

On that young man...one of the great dangers of life in the country is medicine in the country. I can report with great relief that the level of sophistication here in the PNW is almost nothing short of amazing. This guys credentials are gold-plated, up to and including a residency at Duke. All of my doctors are on the same plateau...and with cancer, leading edge takes on a whole new meaning.

On that Cayman, my absolute goal is to protect and set my wife up for life should this go south. I'm getting reassurance from multiple specialists that probably won't be the case...but you hope for the best but plan for the worst. In fact, there's great hope that two weeks of radiation will take this monster off the nerves in my pelvis and release me from the vise I've worn for almost a year now. It seems too good to be true, but to their credit "smoke-blowing" isn't in my oncologist's repertoire (getting one to laugh is my short term life's goal now). That Porsche is out there, waiting

PSA: I blamed my back on injury because I was doing heavy work at the time (the infamous bubble rock), and let PT carry on far longer than anyone in their right mind should have. I have since read first-hand accounts from two guys who did the exact same thing, with the exact same result. The take-away is we're absolutely a tiny, tiny minority of "bulged disc/bad back" guys, but when PT and chiro don't produce results in the expected time frame, get your ass to a orthopedic specialist.

When a leading edge oncologist tells you with certainty that they've got it covered, they've got it covered. I've found most like to hem and haw. The ones that speak with certainty do so out of well earned confidence.

I'm not John Wayne, but I'm a pretty stoic guy with regard to pain. I reached the point each time the PT guys wanted me "push it" a little I ended up in bed for a day or two almost paralyzed.

Ortho did two in-house x-rays. I saw his concern. He said, "we need an MRI for a little more clarity on what's going here." I was in his office when he started rolling back and forth over the MRI image...he didn't need to say anything...a softball sized glob is readily apparent, even to an aircraft mechanic. He turned and said, "I'm sorry, that's a mass, this gets pushed past me to an oncologist."

Make sure your wife is sitting down for stuff like that. We almost had an ugly diagnosis and a MAN DOWN! at the same time

So you weren't even expecting the big C?  You were just thinking it was some kind of health issue with pain?

At that point I'd been seen by a doctor two times, and gotten the same likely bulged disc diagnosis. And that was after a very thorough range-of-motion exam and and heavy abdominal palpation. I don't blame her, at all, because I was the one who had to be dragged into the office...and then told her it had flared just about the same time my wife and I moved a 1,200 pound rock 50 feet with ropes and rollers, then lifted and placed it with a home-made gantry. Like I said, two other guys online had the exact same experience...not similar...almost word for word. Amazingly, the ortho told me my spine looked "great!"

Note to vets: MM has not been given a presumptive link to military life, but it is on the list of cancers you can "make a case for". The list of VA probable causes includes damn near everything they now concede were a threat...trichloroethylene (used to clean every oxygen component and tool on earth...in the late 80s we got soaked with the stuff, and PPE didn't much didn't exist), benzene (think aircraft exhaust daily, for years), various solvents (including MEK, which turns out to be the debil) we used to clean thrust reversers, burn pits and now, interestingly, time spent at Kanshi-Kanabad. I'm being told I have a pretty good shot at a positive link.

Karshi-Kanabad (K2) is very slowly bubbling up on the VA's screen. I can tell you for a fact the DOD knew that place was a Russian chemical warfare toxic waste dump when we went in there. The soil literally bubbled up green and blue iridescent slicks that set off the chem attack monitoring equipment on a regular basis. It was attributed to "barely detectable levels" of agents... Our maintenance haz had the coolest skull and crossbones you've ever seen stenciled on the back wall. I asked a Russian what it was, and he basically told me, "bad stuff stored here". When the Army got the Command Post up and running, the chemical attack siren went off for an hour...they couldn't figure out how to shut it off. The whole place went into MOPP 4. We did not die.

They brought in tens of thousands of tons of crushed rock and buried it all, but the burn pits didn't go away. I went down this road with my dad, who spent two consecutive years on the ground in Vietnam. I've seen the spray maps, and his locations. He survived a quintuple heart bypass, then a brain tumor and was finally killed by small cell lung cancer, as a non-smoker, at 86. The VA foot-dragged until 90% of the exposed vets were dead, and only then began paying out small compensation to the barely living. It's their go-to. Gonna fight me on this one.

I'd never question your back bone.

I as well was interested in any details about what lead up to this discovery that you might care to share but didn't want to burden you with having to explain.  I will say this - within about 30 minutes upon reading your first comment here on this  I had an appointment for a full body scan scheduled.  Sometimes it takes some sort of shock to remove one from complacency.   More prayers sent your way.

So how do we buy in on Optoflux?

Good question!

It had a decent amount of volume going into the close.  She reversed her trend for the last week.  Mostly, the stock would open a bit higher, sell-off and then bounce back up just under the peak it had already formed.  Then it would sell off again before barcoding the rest of the day but trending towards a lower close than the open.  Today was different, she spiked back up to close higher than where she opened.  The other thing I find interesting about her...she does all her volume in the first 2-4 hours of the trading day.  It's almost like everyone loses interest in trading her around lunch time.

This is all conjecture form here on out.  My expectation is that she opens trending up, some profit taking around the .0998 mark.  If she breaks .10 hold on tight.  I could see her fighting the .0998 - .0999 mark most of the day tomorrow before ultimately being beaten back to close just above the open.  This is all based on the theory that she doesn't just gap out of the gate.  It's kind of interesting when you're talking about hundredth of a cent being a "run".
